hey thanks! downloaded and installed fine. But it was missing a file in the installation folder, "ntmsapi.dll", went and searched for the file and found it on http://tinyurl.com/2l4b62, downloaded it into the install folder, and now it works fully. Thanks again

Just got home. I've downloaded the update file, extracted all the files out of it and ran the connect player.msi, installed it then rebooted the computer. Double-clicked on it, and all it shows is a blank screen. Gonna try searching for the cd around my bedroom. If i dont find it, theres a seller on ebay selling the cd's for £5.10, might just get one. Thanks anyways

Hi, (thought i'll revive this thread instead of opening another one) Well, I've lost my connect player cd too, and i need it for my a1000. Ive tried sonicstage, but it messed up my whole player (top100, corrupted all music). Can anyone upload a copy for me? Ive tried the link earlier on, but you need an account for it. Thanks.

hey hows the navigation speed on the nw-a1000 player when synchronizing sonicstage 4.2????

Simple question: can you search in chinese on the nw-a1000? as i've seen that you can search in japanese on the a1000. Thanks

Hey, big problem! What was happening was i had a virus on my windows xp os that destroyed my windows folder, so i had to re-install it. But I forgot to install my RAID Drivers, which resulted in windows xp not recognizing my drive for installation. But i did NOT know that at the time, and mistook my a1000 as my hard drive. And what i did was delete my partition in the drive. Now the a1000 is just a drive with unpartitioned space and not recognized as an Hard drive in xp, connect player wont recognize it, and my songs are all gone. What should i do? Would sony fix it? [EDIT] I think ive got it, just intialised my a1000 and its now recognised by connect, and now transferring the tracks. i was so worried just then.

just one little thing: will any sony personnel see this thread? i like all the things mentioned for the next firmware, but i want it to go into actual production, so that we all could use these fantastic features in the next update. we shoud all create some kind of proposal for the next firmware and send it to sony about all the possible features that sony could consider.

Hey, just wanted to know if my nw-a1000 will operate faster with CP or SS4? This is because i have experienced a very dramatic speed change with the new firmware and now it takes about 12 seconds to load and navigating from menu to menu takes about 1-2 seconds. Would initialising the player do the trick? Thanks
-
what i think it could be is that windows media player is trying to synchronize with the player, in which music in your wmp library will be transferred onto any portable player connected. try going onto windows media player and disabling auto synchronization with portable players

Hey! the things i would like in the next firmware are -definately a speed boost in loading times -also to change the shuffle option, so that when selected, it continues to play to the end of the current track before shuffling all tracks or my favourites, etc... -lyrics viewer? -browsing between months in the calendar -option for quick play, like the minidisc, so that the startup is skipped and directly plays music -option for continuous play thorugh albums -ability to add tracks to a playlists thats currently playing Yeah, thats all i can think now Will add when ideas shoot into my head.

does anyone think the new firmware is abit slower than the previous firmwares?? because it takes much longer to load up now, with the "loading" logo added
-
oh ok, i'm downloading applocale now, will see if it works Thanks for the info [EDIT] Doesn't work, still has the "?". Reason for change to sonicstage is because connect doesnt allow you to play tracks on device is they dont exists in your library. [EDIT#2] (O_O)!!! It worked!, i had to set the language to simplified chinese to display traditional chinese (funny) but who cares, it works!
-
Hi, thought i'd try sonicstage out instead of the connect player. Sonicstage has recognised my nw-a1000 and loaded the tracks but the chinese characters on the tracks are being display as "?" Tried tweaking the registry settings as said on one of the threads and it hasn't worked. Any other solutions? Thanks

update from gracenote? [EDIT] Oh got it, found out that i havent yet registered with gracenote. I've regitered now and i think its updated all my songs. Do i have to transfer them onto my HD all over again. I've got like 1700 songs on the player. Its gonna takes years to transfer all of em again! [EDIT #2] Just so i dont have to open a new thread, why does my connect player always want to access my floppy drive when starting?? I've recently yanked out my floppy drive and im getting error messages saying "drive not ready" every time i start connect [EDIT #3] lol, another note. I always change the ID Tags on my songs files, i just discovered that gracenote changes Tracks tags. Why can't i do that and can't artist link just link up the genres together?
-
Hey, i have the NW-A1000, been using it for a while, very happy with it. The only feature i haven't used yet, is the artist link feature. When pressing the artist link button, it searches then displays "Cannot find linked artists". Doesn't Artist link search for similar genres in music? If thats the case, then i have alot of songs that have the same genre. Not sure why its not working. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi, i was just wondering, is there a setting to make this player play continuously after one album, becuase once it gets to the end of an album, it stops and turns off. Thanks
