  1. Would like to use something a bit better to rip MP3s & discs to 64K ATRAC3+ then just use SonicStage to transfer to my MD .... Any ideas or are Sony the only company that does it? Sm4rtie

Great shout Paul I ordered one of these 29th May - arrived today - and i'm having fun with minidiscs again. Have just returned from a creative zen xtra - which admittedly had 60Gb but the sound quality just doesn't compare with this £49.98 :-) player. Maybe it's because I grew up with singles & LPs but there is something very satifying about having discs with you music on rather than just looking it up on file list - it's a tactile thing. An added bonus was that this player also has line in (opt & elec) and a remote socket (although a remote isn't supplied I was happy to see my MC10L from my old 707 was compatable). As far as the Hi-MD discs go I picked up 8 (should be more than enough) from www.discountdiscs.co.uk for £28.72 inc postage, which works out at £3.59 each - not bad. All in all I'm impressed with the progress that seems to have been made in the last few years both with the players & SonicStage software. I supose the only down side is that this unit doesn't play MP3s directly but to be honest the conversion isn't that bad (and it'll give me an incentive, if I need one, to save up for an RH10). The only thing I really miss so far compared to the HD based players is the ability just to copy a folder over and retain the file structure - anyone know if this is possible with sonicstage? Lets hope Sony stick with it - it looks as if their HD players will outstrip sales of the MD pretty soon as the prices are becoming comparable nearer the high end ..... Cheers Sm4rtie
