Finally got a new MD after two months of struggling with faulty MZ-N505. Have Sonic Stage 3.1 installed on system and want to now if I can use this for my new HiMD MZ-NHF800 or do I have to uninstall the sonic software and reinstall new sonic stage 2.1 that came with new player? If I try to use current version will the MD function properly if I do have to reinstall? I read somewhere that if you attatch md without first installing drivers ect then the md wont be recignised. I just want to plug it in right now!

It plugs in directly. It's a Sony ECM-DS70P, the same one with two ends(left and right) The plug is onlg 1.5cm long so your proberbly right.

Can anyone suggest a way to avoid recording the noise from MD when using a plug in power microphone? Basically you pick up the sound from the players mechanisms and it's very noticable.

Need help please. I borght a Sony digital microphone to attatch to my Sony MD/MZ-N505 Type R. The problem is I'm not sure where to attatch it, into the optical line in or into the headphone line? Also not sure how to operate as there are no instruction for this operation in the manual for my MD It would be so great if anyone could help me as the microphone costed me $190- and I've been waiting to use it to record sounds from nature to mix into my techno that I mixed it will sound so great if I ever get it working. If my model does not support the mic I'm willing to buy the model that will support it. I have a great knowledge of rebuilding computer hardware so I can be very helpfull if anyone needs advice on installing new memory modules/cd roms etc...someone please help and I will be forever gratefull.
