Hi, if anyone can help me I would be extremely appreciative. First, my specs : Windows XP sp2, Sonic Stage 3.0.0.13270, MZ-RH910 minidisc, Hi-SP mode. Okay, while attempting to upload some live recordings of my own band (ie, I'm pretty sure that this is not a DRM issue or anything) I received an error, I forget the exact wording, but something about being unable to read a particular track. I disconnected the minidisc from the computer and listened to the track. There was one place where the song went blank, the minidisc skipped ahead a few seconds, and then resumed playing. I tried again to upload the track to my computer, and the same problem occured, this time I noticed that the conversion to .oma timed out 41% of the way through the track, corresponding exactly to the time when the blank sectors occured when I listened back to the track. Thinking I was clever, I went back and listened to the track again, adding a track mark right before and right after the bad sectors, figuring that I could do this for any other bad sectors I encountered in my recording. However, when I reconnected the minidisc to the computer and re-opened sonic stage, I got this error : "Cannot use this disc as an audio disc because it was initialized by a program other than Sonic Stage", followed by instructions on how to reformat my disc. When I disconnected and tried to play the disc unattached to the computer, the minidisc display blinks : "CANNOT RECORD OR PLAY", followed by the question, "CREATE AUDIO FILE?" Now, I can tell from opening up the E: drive that my ATDATA file is over 600MB long. So, clearly the data is still there. I tried to open this file in a Hex editor, but it bombs after about 500MB (I assume that this is where the problem track or sectors reside). Anyhow, I apologize for this long post. I have not read anything which exactly describes this happening. All of the other discs work perfectly, so I don't think that it is a problem with needing to reinstall Sonic Stage or any DLLs or anything. Again, If anyone has any idea how I can retreive all or at least most of this data I would be most grateful. The minidisc contains two weeks of live performances and it is a real drag to lose it. More generally, is there a way to translate the HMA files to OMA without using Sonic Stage? I looked at MarcNet's .wav converter, but it assumes that the files are already in .oma format. Also, what causes bad sectors in the first place? This minidisc is only 2 weeks old! Is there a way to open up the file despite the bad sectors and perhaps replace them or stich together files from before and after the bad sectors? I look forward to your help!!! Thanks, Angus
