I just bought an fm transmitter from ebay for next to nothing, plug it into the headphone socket and it transmits the signal on an fm frequency of your choice - tune the car stereo to same frequency and there you go - amazing invention!

I hate the fact that when you are listening to 'shuffle all' and suddenly decide there is a particular song you want to listen to you have to go through the whole root menu sequence over again. Its enough to have made me decide to never buy a Sony mp3 player again.

Just stick to the ipod if you love it so much, no point having 2 mp3 players.

The software is shit, its that simple. It will continue to frustrate and anger you for as long as you own the unit. I have given up. If the damn thing didnt look so damn good I would throw it away.

Artist link is shit, dont bother with it, worst feature about the Sony HDD products. One artist can have loads of different genres, really, its rubbish.

Dont listen to it in shuffle! It will stop when it gets to the end of the album you are listening to, it doesnt have a 'sleep timer' as such. Set up a bookmark list with bedtime songs on!

Does installing the new software reset the volume hack?

This hack has nothing to do with the AVLS. For a lot of people (like me) even with the AVLS switched off the volume is too quiet even at full ( eg. traffic noise can drown out the sound). This hack boosts the overall volume, even though the display shows that it still goes up to 30 it is a lot louder with no distortion. If you are happy with the volume as it is 'out the box' then no need for the hack.
