Hi, Currently using Sonicstage 3.1. Whenever I connect my NW-HD5 to my computer the list of contents in the transfer section only has options to display by Albums (by artist) or playlists. Is there any way to get it display a list of the album titles only (I have a lot of mix albums and so there are mutiple artists to an album) as my NW-HD1 used to?

Thanks. I thought I'd have to use the backuptool although wasn't sure. I take it I can use my HD5 as the storage for the move? Also, probably a thickie question, but what is DRM?

Hi, I'm using Sonicstage 3.1 and have an NW-HD5. I'm about to start ripping my CDs but only have a small amount of space left on my current hard-drive. Therefore I can only rip some stuff but should be enough to get some music on the walkman for now. At some point in the near future I will be purchasing an external harddrive for use in storing all my music and media files and will be using this as my main library drive for Sonicstage. I know I can specify another location to store my imported files for when I get my external hard drive but how do I move all the transferred files on my current harddrive over to this new location and get Sonicstage to recognise them again? I have experimented by transferring files and folders on my current hard-drive but, once moved, I go to play an imported album in my Library SS asks me to state the location of the tracks. To do this for each track I’ll have moved will be a nightmare! I have also tried using the File-Import-Scan Folder option to scan the new folders to pick up the tracks but this creates duplicate entries in the Library List (with none of the alterations to Artist name etc. that I made to the original file details). I’d love to get the external hard-drive now but just can’t afford it for a few months yet, so is there a solution to move my library easily once I do? Also has anyone else experienced any problems with moving their library to an external hard-drive and have any hints and tips? Thanks in advance for any help!

Ok guys, I've had a reponse from Sony Support about this problem (well I was having a similar problem to you). I've tried what they instructed and it seems to have worked! Sonicstage installs completely without the termination message and I've already imported one CD without any complications. I haven't had time to test the program further but thought it best to post on here straight away to see if their advice helps anyone else out. Here's what they said: "To try and resolve the problem you are experiencing with the Sonic Stage software please can you do the following; Disconnect all USB devices from your computer with the exception of the keyboard and mouse, if these are USB. Click on the [start] button and go to [Run]. In the dialog box type MSCONFIG and click on [Ok]. Click on the [startup] tab . Click on the [Disable All] button. Click on the [Apply] and [Close] buttons. Click on [Restart] . When Windows restarts a [system Configuration Utility] warning window will appear. Click on the [Ok] button. Close the [system Configuration Utility]. Insert the Sonic Stage CD into your CD/DVD Drive and then reinstall the Sonic Stage software over the top of the existing installation. Click on the [start] button and go to [Run]. In the dialog box type MSCONFIG and click on [OK]. Click on the [startup] tab. Enable the programs you disabled in an earlier step by placing ticks in the boxes next to them. Click on the [Apply] and [Close] buttons. Restart your computer. Re-try the Sonic Stage software." Of course I take no responsibility if this doesn't work for you (or even makes matters worse ) and you should contact them directly to get the best solution for your own OS. But this seems to have worked for me so maybe it will for you. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice so far. I have uninstalled the software and all registry entries relating to Sony and OpenMG as described in other threads but this has not helped. Even with all this removed Sonicstage 3.1 still will not install. My problem is similar to the one in THIS THREAD (but my reply was moved to this new seperate topic for some reason...). This is really beginning to drive me mad now and I cannot use my NW-HD5 until I get this fixed. Hope someone out there can solve this...

Thanks for the advice but he problem isn't just with CDDB. Whenever I try to install Sonicstage 3.1 (either from the CD-ROM I got with my NW-HD5 or from the online install exe) it gets about two thirds of the way through before terminating by itself. My guess is the CDDB problem is just happening because the install doesn't complete properly. My original post was a reply to problem of a similar installation nature by another user and really is not specifically about CDDB...

Sorry to not start a new thread but my issue was practically the same as the original poster's. As for the Gracenote problem (which is really an aside to the fact that Sonicstage doesn't install completely and is probably a symptom of the result of that), I have no options to select when I go to tools->getcd info. Whenever I try to select CD info from the Import screen I get a screen message telling me I need to register with Gracenote and when I click YES to the 'Register Now' option nothing happens.

Not much to add here but I am having the same problems My installation process gets to the point where Drivers are being installed and then terminates by itself. However, Sonicstage does seem to be installed on my PC but the Gracenote CCDB doesn't seem to work (and I'm not inputting all the CD info manually! ). My OS is Win XP SP2, PC is P4 2.2ghz with 768mb RAM and I'm using a CD-ROM. I have no problem installing an earlier version of SS I used (2.1) and when uninstalled everything dissappears from the Add/Remove list. Does anyone out there have any advice?
