  1. I bought mine from Minidisco; I've purchased from them for several years. I've had no problems.
  2. Thanks for this info. I've been plugging it into a USB hub and wondering whether it's being charged up this way...
  3. It's reassuring that others are having this problem--my RH10 volume up botton launches search also. I've just learned to live with it, since it seems to be just a minor glitch.
  4. Same thing has happened to me, and it did begin when I upgraded to SS 4.0...
  5. Somewhat related... the SonicStage Connect store does not work under IE 7, which is part of Vista. So maybe compatability with Vista / IE 7 will come with a future version of SS.
  6. I think ICP is pretty good... not the sort of rap that I seek out, but not bad. Although they sound better after I've had a few beers . I think it's just music snobbery. It's fashionable to show how musically cool you are by professing hatred of certain groups. In any given decade, certain artists and acts are regarded as "cool" and others are not. And you demonstrate your cool by hating the groups regarded as uncool. And then ten years later, "cool" is redefined and often totally opposite of what it was years before... A lot of it is based on marketing and commercial brainwashing. I say: Listen to what you want to, and to hell with what anyone thinks about it. I still remember my freshman roommate, who was into Jimmy Buffett and a lot of country-rock acts, sneering at me because I liked Elton John. (Which should give you some idea of how long I've been watching the wheels go round...)
  7. If the specific minidisc is unreadable in another player, and if this is a minidisc that has been used repeatedly and often, it's possible that the TOC (table of contents) has become corrupted and unreadable. This is, unfortunately, a danger with any device that writes files to any medium, be it fixed computer drive, CD-RW, or even a flash drive. It the minidisc is playable in another player, it might be a hardware issue with a specific Minidisc player. I've used Minidisc for ten years, however, and even have a few discs that I write over numerous times. Over the years and with multiple blanks, I've experience a failure in only one disc (though I've had a couple of players/recorders begin to act squirrely). And rarely, I've had a disc or two that can't be played in a specific player. So, in my experience, the Minidisc format is the most durable and reliable I've ever worked with--certainly more reliable than your typical computer hard drive, and definitely more durable than CD-R's, which tend to deteriorate over time.
  8. I was able to record Fiona Apple and her opening act for 2+ hours at Hi-SP, and I barely made a dent in the battery level. My playback time is probably close to the rated 10 to 15 hours. Battery recording time should be quite adequate for most situations. Plus, the battery is user-replaceable--a major plus in my view.
  9. One thing to consider is that it is much easier to do stealth recordings with the RH-1. The unit is relatively small and unobtrusive; I was able to capture a recent concert by hiding the unit behind me on the seat, with my microphone on my lap. Security never spotted it. And the recording quality on the RH-1 was excellent; set to auto recording level, I had no distortion, even though I was sitting on the front row, a few feet away from the speakers.
  10. I have a similar problem with my MZ-S1, which I have used constantly for several years. About a year ago, I noticed that I could no longer transfer files to it through SS... it would just sort of freeze up and refuse to transfer. It still plays, however. So, I use another MD to transfer what I need and I use the S1 as a player. I figure that my MZ-S1 had some sort of hardware failure that affected recording, but not playback.
  11. Fast, secure, courteous service and great shipping on an MZ-DH10P, which I am keeping as a backup. The MZ-DH10P has quickly become one of my fav MD units.
  12. The DH10p has become my "camera" of choice for my informal photos on Flickr. The quality is a lot better than you'd expect for a 1.3 mp camera.
