NWZ-E438F (B) Fail beyond Start Up Screen
Stretcher Bearer replied to Stretcher Bearer's question in Audio
So, The file transfer wizard picks up the device when connected to a Win 7 PC. I can pen the device and see files, but I'm not sure if they (system files for the device) are all there Transfers and everything. The updater doesn't work. it just stays connected to UMP. If I plug the player into a power outlet eg an iphone charger with the USB cable, the startup screen just keeps flashing. So it's hard to know if this is a firware corruption or battery problem. -
NWZ-E438F (B) Fail beyond Start Up Screen
Stretcher Bearer replied to Stretcher Bearer's question in Audio
That's the sony Aus service centre prices! All they do here is refer you to the service centres. -
I have a Red NWZ-E438F(. It flashes the Blue Walkman Logo and "Every Moment has it's music" slogan then switches off. I have had it on long charges, hit the recent pin but to no avail. Could this be a battery fail? If so are they replaceable? Where would you access one or is too cost prohibitive? I'm not paying 80 bucks just for a tech to 'have a look at it!!! thanks in advance!

I got sick or reading after page 7! Just some random thoughts that have popped into my head thus far. 1. Sony, get your head out of your arse. You are not Steve Jobbs. You cannot expect to DICTATE to the consumer what you think they want. 2. Learn to Listen to your customers. They are the ones that fork out cash for exhorbitantly priced products with limited range in functionality. 3. It would seem more of the ire of Sony Music and Pictures is telling Sony Electronics how to do things. interesting that Sony is suing many for copyright violations and not having the music connect store in Australia at least. Time to dump everything and go back to what yu do best. 4. How can you sell a PSP for the price you do then turn around and overprice the MD range? There is no logic and is it any wonder they don't sell. 5. If any one lobs an 'Australia is a small Market' crap on me again I'll smash 'em! We are still a market and this ignorance by Sony is at it's own peril. 6. I think I saw soneone mentioning how much Sony would lose per unit if they dropped prices (around $100?) Well tough. When you can by an ATRAC enable mobile phone for less than a high end MD player then something is going wrong. 7. Sony is one of the most secretive electronics companies I know compared to others out there. They tell you nothing, no department knows what the other department is up to. 'Secret' sources are rife- like there's some big secret about minidisc? puhhlleeaasse. They listen to noone. ANswer we don't know then two days later spill their guts. Look how long it took for their flash players and even then they didn't listen to the market and devloped their own with less functionality than any other unit. I think this is my vent at SONY post, but it just seems typical or their recent behaviour. Overpriced products without the quality and stillexpecting to dictate the market. They should have learnt with Betamax that you can't have it your way. The quality of Beta max made it a broadcast standard despite the public favouring VHS. The same will happen to MD becasue Sony wanted to be the big kid on the block without the hard work. Shame Sony Shame (no that they'll listen)

Go to Target. MZNH600 for $138! Fight back against ridiculous pricing!!
-
Good to see Sony dragging their knuckles still on the 2nd Gen MDs. Have found Target in Melbourne selling NH600s for $139AUD! Dick Smith Selling them for 149 and NH700 & NH800 for 299AUD!!! Go Audio are way overpriced for any MP3/MD devices. a 4 year iAudio player for 489AUD on special!!! A device that isn't even mad anymore. With the glutton of mp3 devices out there there needs to be a bit of senibility from shop front suppliers out here. It' amazing their level of ignorance on good product like MDs and high quality mp3 devices.

600 or 800? Decision time amongst bargains
Stretcher Bearer replied to Stretcher Bearer's topic in Minidisc
399AUD upwards if you can find one! -
I've located a batch of MZNH600s and MZNH800s. Excellent prices here in Melbourne!! Trouble is, I can't make up my mind. The 600's are going for $149AUD and the 800 at $299! (700 is $299 too!) Apart from the recording ability of the 800 and the Radio, is there anyone who can help me make up my mind as far as value for money? 149 for a HiMD!!! Or should I just wait in the hope the 2nd Gen HiMD will arrive soon? Otherwise I'll keep my MZN-505 and get an iAudio 5 1G!

To grab some of the other things mentioned. Megamart will close soon- as it IS losing too much. Most other big branders have no Hi-MD stock but are still selling pre-HiMD models for ridiculous prices. MZNH600 for $199 700 for $299 and 800 for $399. MZNH1 for $499 MZNH900 $459. You used to pay a fortune for Japanese made equipment= Panasonic marketed this well. My old man has an original 160's portable panasonic transistor twin speaker mulitband radio and I have an orginal 1970's Sony amp. Givne that many SOny products are made in Malaysia and Indonesia, why do they still have to cost like an orignal Japanese product?

Sony have no idea. I found the Flash players on the web in Europe. A week late I email Sony Aus- When are we getting them? "We don't know of any plans" they say. Sony Execs need to get their arrogant heads out of their preverbial backsides and start getting products out here instead of treating us like a thrid world stopover and with decent prices. Sefu I understand what you are saying about pricng however OLEDisplays aren't new, neither are MP3s neiher is much of ATRAC except for a little more compression over genrations- the pricing for a bit of anaodised metal is rediculaous compared to O/S prices. Even the flash players are over priced since their release- Sony can't even get enough of them out there either. A week or two later- they appear in the Herald Sun and A Week later the signs are up in stores and my Pulse Mag has 'em? Get up with it Sony- I want a replacment for my MZR 505- 2nd Gen. This notion of which market gets what from Sony is a frustrating process. Australia has so many nationalities you'll get the best proving ground by relasing them here just as early as you do in the US or Europe. there are still stores selling 505s 510s even MZ1s out theri at dearer prices than the HiMD models- even the braniacs at Retravision. The fact is Sony hasn't educated most of the selllers out there. They ask me 'why do you like minidiscs. A guys with 20 units in a cash converters asked why MD ahead of iPod- he had no idea that a crappy unit outsells everything purley becasue of image and marketing. You can either- Sell a few at an exhorbitant price- now (Sony) Or you can sell lots at a better price. Either way as a manufacturer you make your money. (p.s.- Iprefer my black headphones too!)
