WHERE IN THE WORLD are you finding microdrives that cheap? I just checked my sources and the best price I found was $115 for a 2gb card. I'd by several at that price.

If they are really screwed together, it would be cool (and simple) to convert one of these bad boys to HI-MD.

There really is no excuse to NOT have a backlight on the RH910, but there isn't one.

Yeah, I actually gave a bunch of slipcases to my friend who has a PSP, the UMD discs don't have a shutter. He says they work great for him.

AAC@128kbps or ATRAC3@Whatever. It doesn't really matter which is better, neither one of them are going to be playing on my actual home stereo system. Besides, using either the free Sony or Ipod headphones that came with the units, I doubt you can tell the difference. Personally if the Minidisc somehow became iTunes friendly, it would be an amazing thing. The connect store is almost identical to the iTunes store anyway. I buy my music from AllofMP3.com where I can get whatever format/bitrate I want, so to hell with the other stores.

I find the buttons to be very tiny in general, making things more difficult than they need be. I miss the huge 4-way rocker on my R700, these controls on the RH10/910 are apparently designed for japanese fingers.

I somewhat like the new, cassete style cases. If I was going to keep my MDs on a shelf, I'd use them. However I use a Caselogic binder to store all my MDs anyway, so the slipcases get tossed. For slipcases I prefer the older, hard plastic ones, over the soft, translucent ones.

One of those blue discs is what came packed in with my RH910. Didn't know it was anything special.

The NH1 has a magnesium/aluminum case, doesn't it? That would be reason enough for me. The only real advantage that I feel the native MP3 players give you is additional sound quality. In my own testing, an MP3 at 320kbps sounds better than the Hi-SP(256kbps) recordings. So if you have high quality demands of your portable music player, that's something to consider.

Just in case anyone was curious, the Sony PSP remotes do not fit minidiscs. Too bad.

Honestly I bought the RH910 over the RH10 BECAUSE of the OLED display. I don't like them, and for something that's going to be shoved in a pocket most of the time, I don't want the extra power consumption that OLED brings. If you think about it, the white band on silver body brings a hint of the Ipod styling, that may be what they were going for.

I just got myself a MZ-RH910. I'm very impressed with it so far though I don't like the low capacity of the gumstick battery, but with a 2000 mAh cell in the extra battery pack it's not much of a problem. Anyways, since the american model apparently doesn't come with a remote, I tried using the only remote I had, the one that came with my old MZ-R700, it doesn't really work, I can change the tracks, stop play and adjust the volume, but that's it. I'll assume that it's just a compatibilty issue, as the remote works fine with the R700 and my N505. Is there a list of what remotes are compatible with certain models? I see the two remotes for sale on minidisco.com, but sheesh, I don't need a 3 line backlit remote, just a stick with buttons on it would be nice.

While I don't know what the clear coating on the RH10 is, I'm guessing that it some sort of acryllic, like most things these days. Something along the lines of http://www.radtech.us/Products/Icecreme.aspx will remove the scratches, along with numerous similar products on the market.
