  1. Can one buy these Onkyo units in the UK? If so where?
  2. I am using Sonicstage 4.2. I regularly record long tracks from FM radio on my MDS-JE780. When transferring the tracks via USB from my newly acquired MZ-RH1 I have found that after about 30-35 minutes worth the counter resets to zero. At first I found this most alarming and thought that there might be a hardware problem. However, if left alone Sonicstage goes through this cycle several times and saves a perfect WAV file at the end of the process. Has anyone else observed this?
  3. Programs like Audio Recorder Pro can do timed records of the audio stream in either wav or mp3. Does not have programme selection though as radio SHARK. Not keen on DAB. We live in a marginal area for DAB reception but get very good interference free FM. Since mostly I record music quality poor although BBC Radio 3 said to be ok at 192khz.
  4. Take a look at:- http://tinyurl.com/kq6nt
  5. Thanks very much - could be just what I want.
  6. Thanks for that, I have reduced it to half a second's silence.
  7. Is there any way to prevent the silly sound that emanates from SS when it has completed a transfer? Jolly annoying when you are listening to "music while you work".
  8. My stereo system with FM Tuner + MiniDisc + CD etc is in the lounge. My PC is upstairs. I have an MZ-RH10 connected to my PC which for transfers PC --> NetMD works wonderfully well. I could, I suppose, buy another tuner. Don't suggest I buy a TV/Radio card as I don't have a TV and would have to buy a licence! If you know of an FM Radio only card (or USB device) I should be glad to hear of it. I have not succeeded in finding one. I don't want to upload everything but sometimes I like to divide a recording into tracks for more convenient listening.
  9. Sorry if you misunderstood me. In UK time-shifted listening/viewing usually means recording a programme so that you can hear/see it later. It is what is most commonly done with VCRs.
  10. It has a timer recording function!! Where is the HiMD with that facility? Where is the CD (no LP anyway) or MP3(quality?) recorder?
  11. While the points made are well argued, the quotes above are a slight distortion of the truth. There is, as far as I can determine, no HiMD deck. The deck which I have - JE780 - is still on sale in UK and is the best solution that I have found for time shift listening to FM radio broadcasts. The BBC allow me (as with video recording) to make recordings of their copyright material for my own private use. I cannot upgrade to NetMD for this purpose. It is a matter of great frustration that while I can transfer at high speed from my PC, I cannot go the other way round. If, because of hardware limitations, it is impossible to upload then I will have to accept my lot. I have, however, never seen that stated authoritatively and unequivocally.
  12. So far no one has done so. Is there a fundamental reason why normal MD cannot be uploaded or has Sony just made an arbitrary decision? I have a MDS-JE780 deck as well as MZ-N10. I make my own recordings hence no DRM issues. I know of no deck with HiMD. I am discriminated against!
  13. Tools-->Options-->Location to save imported files When I change the folder I am asked do I want to move files and answer 'Yes' files appear to be being moved then SS hangs. After restart folder has not beeen changed. Repeating process hangs again. However, files have been moved so if answer 'No' folder gets changed ok!
  14. Thanks for taking the trouble to respond. Found the driver files, installed and bingo! All now works fine. David
