Yes, I did the double install of SS3.2 last nite and it works fine. Except..... the music database was messed up. No problem, it was just a few of my CDs ready for transfer to HiMD. Un grand remerci.....

Right! It was the one from the download area. I can manage - just - with the German v3.0. I'll see what the v 2.0 from the Sony CD looks like on the laptop and if it's OK, maybe I'll go with that instead. Can't remember what v3.2 gives you over v2.0, though.

My experience with the downloaded version on my work PC confirms this. The problem I now have is how to get a working version of 3.2 on my home machine - I certainly don't fancy getting the download verion via a dial-up!

Now here's a strange thing. I've just done a download install of SS 3.2 on to my work machine, rebooted and ran it up with the MZ-NH700 connected. It aknowledges the HiMD mode OK. The home machine has the install-from-CD version of SS 3.2 'cos I only have a dial-up at home. The hardware on the work machine is marginally different: AMD Athlon 2200, Asus A7V266-MX, 512MB, Win 2k + SP4 So... the only significant differences between the home and work setups appear to be: 1) downloaded versus standalone versions of SS 3.2 2) Win 2K SP4 vs SP3 Hm.......

I had the same problem with 3.2 and my MZ-NH700, so I did the complete uninstall detailed above and installed the German v3.0. I ran it up and, hey presto, it acknowledges the HiMD mode. I even did a few recordings to prove it was working OK. I'm a great believer in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", so I reckon I'll stay with the German version, rather than install 3.2 over it. I can just about understand the messages. Many thanks for all your help PS I've got a version 2.0 which came on the CD with the MZ-NH700, so maybe I'll do a trial install on the laptop and see if it works HiMD. Hardware: AMD Barton 3000, Win 2K + SP3, 512MB, XFX NF-AL24H M/B.

I'm using a 80min and I've formatted it to HiMD format in the recorder. I had a look around one of the other forums and discovered that SonicStage 3.2 - in certain instances - doesn't recognise HiMD. This appears to be a major flaw in 3.2. The work around is a bit tedious: a) uninstall SonicStage 3.2, delete some directories and references to SonicStage and associated programs in the reg. install the German (yes!!) version 3.0 c) re-install 3.2 twice. I've got as far as installing the German version and it does now recognise the HiMD mode. It records fine in Hi-LP etc on HiMD formatted MDs. I'll maybe leave it at that: I know enough words of German to be able to use the program. What a rigmarole.....

As far as I can see in the manual, it just suggests that the USB connection is not working. Not correct in this case because I can record using NetMD....

I have just got a MZ-NH700. Using SonicStage 3.2 it records fine using NetMD mode, but when I set the recording mode on the NH700 to HiMD, SonicStage refuses to recognise the recorder ie the HiMD mode is greyed out. The USB connection is obviously OK (it saves files form the PC OK as well). I have formatted the MDs to HiMD in the NH700, but still no success. Can anyone please help?
