  1. That is one of the reasons I don't care for online auctions, people throw caution to the wind, and forget that sometimes an item can be "bought" cheaper. I have really noticed this in the car section, wher some average used cars are selling for as much as a decent new car. Go figure

    Caveat Emptor,

    Bob

I think you mean suum cuique. Though if you do mean Caveat Emptor, I take offense to that. What exactly should the buyer be wary of?

  2. Is this the RH910 or the RH10? It looks like the latter in the pics. $200 is a bit high for the RH910.
    for reference:

this is the 910. Notice the white/blue-ish color scheme.

this is the 10. Notice the lack of a white/blue-ish color scheme.

they do have similar builds but they are pretty distinct from each other.

As to the pricing, I agree that the player isn't worth $200 but the player + 19 discs probably is.

  3. Mighty Sith Lord ,... he doubts your powers , "the farce" is not with this young one , he must be shown "The Way"

    :shok:

lol, OK. here ya go: $200 for the whole kit and kaboodle shipped directly to you. new pic showing the Hi-MD discs plus another shot of the unit itself.

  4. As I mentioned in the other thread, this is my main MD player that I'm selling because SonicStage doesn't like me. Again, what you see is what you get. The earbud headphones that came with the unit are still included, and I've still not used the headphones at all as earbuds are uncomfortable to me.

I've only had one transaction here on the forum but that went well. My ebay id is the same so you can look me up on there if you want.

What you see is what you get. The player is in good condition and plays fine. It would be useful to someone who wants to use it as a "workhorse" player, one that is used to put information onto discs so the laser of your primary player doesn't get worn out. At least, that's what I've been using it for. The downside is that the player doesn't play mp3's natively so everything has to be converted to ATRAC inside SonicStage.

I'm selling this because I recently moved my music library to a larger hard drive and I realized a problem with the SonicStage software. That is, I realized that when I moved the files to the larger HDD I lost pretty much all of the formatting that I had been doing for the past month to the files in SonicStage. All of the dates and practically all of the artwork disappeared from the music files. I wouldn't be so upset if it were MP3's or something but it was all ATRAC files that SonicStage had imported itself. I decided that I'm not going through that again and so I'm selling this player, my primary player, and all of my discs. My primary player is a Sony MZ-RH910 and you can see it in it's own thread.

  6. I was wondering this myself. The URL provided set off many warning bells, as did the program name. I looked it up via google and got this:

    Threat: TrojanDownloader.loadadv

    Alias:

    Threat type: Trojan Downloader -

    Advice: Remove

    Threat risk: Severe Risk

Severe risk threats are typically installed without user interaction through security exploits, and may allow an attacker to remotely control the infected machine. Such threats may allow the attacker to install additional malware and use the compromised machine to participate in denial of service attacks, spamming, and bot nets, or to transmit sensitive data to a remote server. The malware may be cloaked and not visible to the user. These threats severely compromise the system by lowering security settings, installing “backdoors,” infecting system files, or spreading to other networked machines.

Description: TrojanDownloader.loadadv is a group of files that download other malware and/or adware without notice or consent.

TrojanDownloader.loadadv is typically downloaded through a security hole or though social engineering.

any ideas where this came from?

  7. Figured it out: it was the track titles. See below:

    1. Concerning The UFO Sighting Near Highland, Illinois
    2. The Black Hawk War, Or, How To Demolish An Entire Civilization And Still Feel Good About Yourself In The Morning, Or, We Apologize For The Inconvenience But You're Gonna Have To Leave Now, Or, 'I Have Fought The Big Knives And Will Continue To Fight...
    3. Come On! Feel The Illinoise!: Part I: The World's Columbian Exposition/Part II: Carl Sandburg Visits Me In A Dream
    4. John Wayne Gacy, Jr.
    5. Jacksonville
    6. A Short Reprise For Mary Todd, Who Went Insane, But For Very Good Reasons
    7. Decatur, Or, Round Of Applause For Your Stepmother!
    8. One Last 'Whoo-Hoo!' For The Pullman
    9. Chicago
    10. Casimir Pulaski Day
    11. To The Workers Of The Rock River Valley Region, I Have An Idea Concerning Your Predicament
    12. The Man Of Metropolis Steals Our Hearts
    13. Prairie Fire That Wanders About
    14. A Conjunction Of Drones Simulating The Way In Which Sufjan Stevens Has An Existential Crisis In The Great Godfrey Maze
    15. The Predatory Wasp Of The Palisades Is Out To Get Us!
    16. They Are Night Zombies!! They Are Neighbors!! They Have Come Back From The Dead!! Ahhhh!
    17. Let's Hear That String Part Again, Because I Don't Think They Heard It All The Way Out In Bushnell
    18. In This Temple As In The Hearts Of Man For Whom He Saved The Earth
    19. The Seer's Tower
    20. The Tallest Man, The Broadest Shoulders: Part I: The Great Frontier/Part II: Come To Me Only With Playthings Now
    21. Riffs And Variations On A Single Note For Jelly Roll, Earl Hines, Louis Armstrong, Baby Dodds, And The King Of Swing, To Name A Few
    22. Out Of Egypt, Into The Great Laugh Of Mankind, And I Shake The Dirt From My Sandals As I Run

There is a 250 character limit on file names (found this out when trying to import the mp3's into SS). So, I just cut the names down to something a little more manageable and voila, the CD imported.

and no, I don't know why the titles are so long.

  8. I must say this is the first problem I've had with 3.4 since installling it. The more I use the software, the more I like it. For one, it's the only program I've used so far that organizes albums the exact way I like to see them - by artist, in order of release.

anyway, here's the problem. When I try to rip the Sufjan Stevens album "Come on Feel the Illinoise!" it imports the first track and gives me two error screens (both are attached). What are these errors? Is it because the track titles are so long? or is it something else?

  9. So I was thinking about the discs and got to wondering. As they are kind of similar to a HDD platter, do they need to be defragged? With the data being taken off and put back on and moved around it appears to me that they might need to be defragged every now and then. Do they?
