problem solved
for anyone who will encounter the same problem: change the usb power setting on your player from 500ma to 100ma
-
Recently I managed to screw up all my usb ports of my laptop, so i bought a pcmiaa card with 4 usb slots on it to put in my pci-slot of my laptop. Everything works fine, exept one thing: my nw-e003. When i put it in one of the usb slots of the pcmiaa card, my laptop(windows xp pro) just completely blocks, i can't move the mouse or anything, it just blocks (pbb cuz the cpu is in a loop). Anyway, does someone know the solution to that? Or seen this problem before, cause now I cant put any new music on my player .

Could be a testmodel

This should probably be a new thread....but....are Sony seriously telling us that you have to use this Sonic Stage rubbish to get tracks onto your mp3 player?!
Whats wrong with pluggin' it into a usb port, opening the 'removable media' window, and draggin' and droppin' WMA & MP3 files from 'My Music' onto the flippin' thing?????
I paid £20 for a voucher from the online music download section of a popular food retailer...can i use this to download tracks and drop them on the NW-E003? I seriously cant tell. Sonic Stage seems un-neccessarily complex...drag and drop, drag and drop!
Yes they are sadly, it's because sony uses their own format for author protective measures, meaning it's used as protection for the contents of music, so it won't be copied that easely (--> so people won't share music with eachother by using the mp3player). It's a pain in the ass, I know, Apple/Ipod also does that policy, but they have better software for using it. Let's just say, in these days big companies only demand one thing, big money and so you'll get these crappy situations like special mp3playersoftware and patheticly overprotected software.
But there is some good news :
http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2075
Void is making a little program (it works now) where you just have to drag and drop, instead of making playlist, moving everything in the damn library and other crappy situations sonicstage loves to get you in .
Ah and as for the voucher: if it's for ATRAC music, then it's ok, if it's for MP3/wmas, then it's ok too, however if it's an itunes voucher, then you're better off selling it.
Hope that'll help ya

Void, u sure you're gonna do all of this on your own? Cause it's a bit harsh letting you do all of this on your own (most likely cause it's timeconsuming).

correct me if Im wrong, but asians have nw-e00x with normal volume levels, so isnt it possible to replace european firmware with asian one ?
did that, didn't hear any difference
-
I must say..impressive
And nice to put the source on later, i might suggest the ppl here who can program (I can do a bit of C++)
help on the project, so there is a program which is good enough to beat sonicstage (at least the positive aspects of Sonic)

Hi all. I bought the NW-E005 just recently. Since 1 GB isn't enough I replace that way my NW-E99. Well... the sound of the NW-E99 is much mor better (thanks to the bass function). I also try to access the test mode by using HOLD ON, then pressing play, mode and RESET. Also if I do that for seconds (all three + HOLD simultaneously) the device doesn't enter the test mode. On the other side I'm happy with the volume level... it's loud enough...
Now to my point of interest. How can I change the customer settings for the equalizer? When I enter the EQ and select custom the
- Play - brings me back to the current song
- mode - brings me one menu levell up, means to Equalizer
- Volume Control - adjust the volume
- Switch left/right - toggle between EQ presettings
Well reset does a reset...is there any specific button combination required????
Would be great to have help on that.
Brgds,
KeenKnight
The steps are: Menu --> advanced menu --> sound --> custom EQ (trying to remember out of my head, but i think that's the one, and if there isn't a custom EQ option, then scroll around the different soundoptions, one of em is the one you need ) The option you where in is the choice of the build-in equalizers: bass, jazz, ... and offcourse the custom one).

Maybe I'm not smart enough to own this high tech piece of equipment but can someone PLEASE help me here.
I simply want to be able to play my songs in the order that they appear on the album, and then to be able to skip to the next song, or previous song as required - not next album, not next artist, just next song please.
Can someone please fill me in on what the Sort Order and Play Mode should be to accomplish this supposedly simple task?
The best thing to do (and for now the only thing) is using playlists in sonicstage and putting them on your player, since the crappy software indeed tends to screw up the album/song order.
Sry, but we must wait for a decent version to come out of sonicstage..

Thanks for the Contribution! Void
I will try this soon with my HD3 ,HD5
I think these are made for the NW-E00X only, so try the software at own risk.
Ah and void, I have a little question, which programming software did you use for it? Because if it's C/C++ I think a user interface can easely be made using C#

well, you can't do much without the blueprints, since you need these to know the maximal outcoming DB and the IC types (which are sony's) for the firmware updating. Or go to hardware dissasemble, which takes a lot of time. So yea, service manuals are nice to have too here, if someone has em.

Hello!
I have just tested sony e005 and have found an easy way to boost the volume up. No, its not volume unlock, but...
You can boost the volume by simply going to manual equalizer menu and set all band scrollers to upper position.
I found no distortion with this setting. May be its because of the tracks I have listened.
However, probably, no distortion will occur at all at any track (it depends upon the way EQ is implemented in e00x) - may be someone else will test it?
If you want to boost bass more than other bands you may set bass scroller, for example to +5, while other scrollers to +3.
Regards!
I doubt that there is anyone here that doesn't know the equalizer
Ps: for best sound (personal thoughts) try +3(or lower for own taste) 0 +1 +3 +3
And about distortion, there isn't . Allthough the bass seem to take over the higher frequencies on higher setup

Some days before i had the TrekStor i.Beat classico, but i don't want to talk about it (puke).
It was terrible
TrekStor , even the name is making it funny. But i know what you mean, I had a Thompson before my sony
and yea, it did sound like crap too

no prob, and for the amplifiers, try
http://www6.head-fi.org/ <-- this forum
am sure the people there can recommend good amplifiers
-
yea, reset works, pity that it also does what it must do, reset everything
-
The Code for the player has already been put here (hold on, press and hold the play and menu button, then push reset while holding, wait 2 seconds). However It's doubtfull that the flashplayer actually has a limit unlock.
What you can do is buy a mobile amplifier, which amplifies the signal coming out of your player towards your headphones. I also still hope there is another way, but I think I'll just give up on it.
-
thank you for the combination, however, how do i exit the test mode? simply by reset or another combination??
-
well, you can get it here, but the fee is 10 dollar, so if anyone really has the need for it :

Hey there...
yesterday i bought the NW-E003 at the local store and i am happy with it..
But something reaaally annoys me.. i could not find any information for turning off the player ?!?!
Can someone tell me how i am able to do so ?
Pressing the "Home-Button" long does not seem to solve my problem - so how does it work?
Greetings
Jan
If you put the player on pauze/stop with the play button, it will turn itself off after 5 sec
-
If I am not mistaken, the EU volume limiter can only be removed via "Service Mode" and not by a firmware update.
Hmm normally the hardware designs of nowadays have 1 firmware that controls all the hardware, so normally the update should update all the mp3players "software".
-
Thank you very much
Little question though, does this asian version remove the european sound limitation?
-
I read the FAQ and push reset button.
Now it works fine, so cool
It's such a good thing with sonys that what the software lacks in stability, the hardware has in
robustness
-
does anyone have a link to the asian firmware 2.0 of the nw-e00x, because after a long search through the
japanese sony site I couldnt find it (mostly thanks to my lack of the japanese language ).
Thanks,

Hello,
I got a problem with my NW-A3000 since this morning.
I've just noticed that my player is very hot !!
All buttons are lit but commands do not respond
Each time I press any button, nothing happen...
I dont really know what to do ?
Does anyone here got this kind of problem ?
Maybe I should try a reset ?
Thank you
If you still have a warranty for your player then bring it asap, else let it be repared in a shop.
The overheating comes from too much amperes trough a component in your player (thanks to a broken
resistor or faulty diode). Anyway, don't use the player now, because when you let it on, itll get overheated and it
will damage itself. Just bring it in en let it be repared, thats the best advice I can give you (repairing it yourself
is hard, because you don't have the blueprints for that model ).
