SonicStage 4.0 doesn't play mp3, and doesn't convert correctly

I had a similar Problem and I had to reinstall my Windows XP from my disc which reinstalls the OS onto your PC without overwriting any files on the Hard Drive,After that SS played all MP3´s -
Well it´s nice to see Minidisc marking it´s 15th Anniversary but the only thing I want Sony to do is to give us Gapless Playback on Hi-MD...I mean how simple of a tast is that......... Sony....I Want Gapless On My Hi-MD player

Hi....Guys I´ve had my NH1 for about a year now and have become very frustrated with the Sound from the stock Buds that come eith the unit.It doesn´t have much Bass in the sound....too many highs and Mids and when using the Graphic Equaliser to add more Bass or Bottom end the sound just becomes more muddied....So I was wondering if ye could help me find a decent set of Headphones that would enhance my listening expierence with my NH1..... Are Sony´s Fontopia headphones any good...... Cheers

Is the RH1 as good or better than te NH1....I love the sound of the NH1 and does the remote from the NH1 work with the RH1

Got great news.....I´ve solved the problem.....the problem was that Sonicstage 4.0 corrupted my files when I changed back to 3.4 and also Creative mediasource re-ID´d my MP3´S and when I removed the Creative soundcard and all of it´s programs it messed up the Audio Codec so I reinstalled Windows without reformating my Hard drive and Sonicstage is working like a dream. It´s playing mp3´s and transfering them to my HD5....I wpuld like to thank ye for your help....if anyone else has this problem they´ll need to reinstall Windows XP from their XP Disc and Windows will fix everything

Tried this but didn´t work....

I´m having the same problem with mp3´s.Welcome to the world of the awful software that is Sonicstage
-
Okay I´ve changed back to SS CP4.0 and it will import my mp3´s into my Library but it still refuses to play the mp3 codec.Anyone Have an idea or can help me.....This is driving my insane
-
Okay I´ve finally installed SS Ver 3.4 and it has imported all my Mp3´s but Sonicstage is still refusing to play them....Does anyone have the mp3 codec for Sonicstage 3.4.... Sonicstage will play all formats except mp3 and it will even play my Hi-MD without fail which wasn´t happening in the past.....please,please can someone help my find the right codec for SS ver 3.4
-
Okay another problem.....Sonicstage just hangs after launching.....I just reinstalled SS CP and it´s just hanging.....so not only do I have a problem with SS 4.0 with regards mp3´s but now this.....this has got to be the worst software that I´ve used in a long time.....if I can´t find a solution to these problems soon I feel that I´ll be joining the iPod brigade because these problems are just pissing me off to no end....3 weeks of this.....my head is truly wrecked
-
I had the same problem so I uninstalled SS CP and reinstalled SS 3.4 and I´m having all sorts of problems as I had to go back to SS CP....SS CP is probably the worst piece of software that I´ve come across..... Maybe this will help you....if you have a mp3 converter try converting the file to another format and see if it plays and then convert it back to mp3...it could be a DRM issue....I used to do that and found that it was a codec problem....unfortunately I´m still trying to find the answer
-
And how do I find that out....
-
It sounds like Soundstage has forgotten again that it knows what mp3s are. Do you have this same problem after a reboot? Install that codec again if you do Yes I´ve had this problem for a while....I´ve uninstalled and re-installed Sonicstage many many times....I´ve even uninstalled other music playing software such as Winamp and still the same.....Again Sonicstage doesn´t reconise my mp3´s only Atrac and Wav Files.....That Codec is installed on my PC.....Sonicstage was working no problems and then when I turned of my PC to go to bed the next day the problem returned.....This problem is really getting on my nerves.....
-
Well for some reason the problem has come back.....When I tried to import my mp3 library I get an error saying that sonicstage cannot import files that are not registered to sonicstage.....Anyone know what this means......
-
Well the good news is that I found out what was causing Sonicstage not to import or play mp3 files and that was because I didn´t have a Fraunhofer IIS Codec on my PC...This is needed for Sonicstage to play mp3´s.Now there is just one more problem....I have my entire mp3 library imported into Sonicstage and Sonicstage will play 95 percent of my files...the other 5 percent when I play those mp3 files I get noting but Noise....like the file is scrambled.... To answer you question the MP3 default program is Winamp....
