Thanks for your reply. - I bought it in Vienna / Austria which is in Europe btw ;-) The sound volume is quite low. I logged a ticket with Sony and they informed me about the EU-regulation on 100 decibel. I told them that when I travel by train I hear the train rattling when I listen to the music ... Presumably there is no EU-law regulating the sound level of trains. What a pity indeed! ;-) Any hints how I can solve the problem? Thanks in advance! F

I have purchased an NWA-1000 quite recently. Ok, the sound volume was lousy. I have searched & found this wonderful thread which I have read and tried it out. I think I can enter the test mode because I am currently in a menue "POWER - OTHERS - AUDIO" - however, nowhere it says "test mode" (is this correct??). I choose "Others" and search by arrow key for SP SET. I have set SP SET OFF. But ... there is no difference in the sound quality / volume :-((( Am I doing something wrong?? Pls help! Thanks!
