Hi, I don't know if this is the right place to ask for help, anyway: I have a MZ-N505. Some days ago I transferred some song using Simple Burner. After I remove the USB cable, nothing was on the MD. I tried recording from CD, with optical cable: nothing. I tried an old LP2 MD, and it reads just fine...but it won't record anymore... Any suggestion? I have a Hi-MD, so I don't mind, anyway, it bothers me to have a faulty unit. Miky

I wanted to buy a 10MD pack at minidisco...it offers me 64$ of shipping costs to italy...I wonder what is the price to ship to Mars...

I think I like MD units just the way they are. They could perhaps have three major designs: -"Serious" (black, silver...) -"Cool" (Ipodish, or whatever you may consider cool) -"Funny" (I don't know...like a pink unit, with Hello Kitty's prints, or comic's heroes prints, for "boys"...) Well. I guess the marketing section of Sony could do much better.

Hi-MD has changed my life. I've got 15 Hi_MD media or so, and many MD formatted with the new standard. I'm still recording something on my old Net-MD for short travels and so on, but with an Hi-MD and a single battery (I buy 10 AA batteries at Ikea, for 1,95 euros...that's a real bargain!) you can go on as long as you want! I'd like the display to have a light, though... Miky

Since I bought it (now I have a Hi-MD, so I don't bother too much) my MZ-N505 had problems with the buttons. When hitting FFW sometimes it goes to play or to stop. When hitting stop, sometimes goes to play... It's very annoying...

I love simple burner 2 "one touch" transfer... I actually also use it in synergy with M3U2SBurner...
-
I only use SS for the uploading process...

Yes, gapless recording/playback is something great... Miky

I'd like this article to be posted as comment on all those stupid reviews against the new unit...

I'm with you...the playback quality, even at low bitrates, is stunning...

Spider Saloff - Like Glass Go to CD Baby to see details and listen to audio samples

Ok...I'll try someday... Thanks!

I'm using MD for playback of my huuuuuuge CD collection too, though from time to time I use it to transfer reel-tapes and records (and cassettes too). Then I make the upload for the restoring process on my PC. But mainly I use it to have something tiny but with great quality to listen on the bus or on the train. MDs are very useful also when you're tiding the house at 2 am in the morning or your in your favorite armchair, and your neighbours are as***les and your only resorce is wearing earphones...

You say you only have problem with mp3s...which bitrate do they have? With poor bitrate you may experience pops and clicks...

In "Strange Days" Ralph Phinnes used MDs to store cerebral datas, recorded with a web-like device that one could wear on the head...
-
Since you need SimpleBurner, I guess you need SS, but there are no restrictions on tracks transferred with SimpleBurner. You can delete them, merge them, split them...no problem.

I don't think the majority of people knows that such a thing as a Hi-MD units and media exists,...and so they think that Sony is constantly trying to sell old MDs... Something to change this situation could be done if Sony would produce some TV adv or something like that....
-
This is why I still use M3U2SBurner to avoid exporting mp3s with SS.

I've experienced something like that from time to time. Usually it happens with low bitrate mp3 converted at low bitrate ATRAC...

Oh! Now I get it, sorry! I never tried recording live...but I'll remember your advice when I'll make some. About merging tracks: is it true that merged tracks on MD (removing the track marks) give bad results during uploading?

Hi there maybe it's my MZ-NH700 that's faulty, but when I record from line-in (analog) I can record one track, no problem. I've been recording several LPs and reel tapes, and then I've uploaded them with SS with no problem at all... ??? I got a little confused...
