It had also happened to me while upgrading to 3.3. Then Kurisu or Ishiyoshi pointed out that I might have installed a different version. If you noticed each sonicstage installer file is different in size. I think you have to download each and try to find which version you had installed previously if you dont remember which.

I think I have answered my question. Yes, it was a region problem. It seems that I had installed Asia Pacific version of 3.3. I reinstalled AP 3.4, and it didnt ask to initialize the HD5. BTW this one was much bigger than US version of 3.4 33MB-66MB. whay do we have to download DirectX? ıt is already installed.

I ripped 3 CD opera @192 to fit in a 80 min MD for the first time. Transfered from NH1 to my desktop easily… OK thats fine, BUT… That one asked me to initialize my HD5 AGAIN!!! Whats wrong with my HD5? Every SS version asked me to initialize the damn thing. Can it be that I had installed SS 3.3 from a different region? I dont remember now which region it was. I usually use North American. I upgraded to NA 3.4, but my 3.3 was it Asian or not.. I really dont remember.

Hi Xispe, for the first time ver. 1.12 worked with me. No more empty folders when you try to save. Works like a charm with my HD5. Though I had to copy the 2 .dat files to 1.12 folder from the previous one to be able to make it work. I am transfering with vaio music transfer and they play fine and am able to save them. Best

Oh, I see... Thanx for the answer, then why it doesnt extract any of my mp3's stored in my HD5? Only a folder appears, but empty.

This doesnt work with my HD5. I started with the earliest version up to the last update. First it didnt play anything. Now only plays mp3 files but says cant play ATRAC files. When I try to extract it only extracts the name of the folder with no files in it if that is mp3, but never extracts ATRAC files... says extracting in the bottom but nothing happens. So am I the only idiot here?

Vinny, have you ever considered that you were listening to the wrong channels all along? Maybe the problem is not with Atrac files of your DAP but with your speakers' placement. maybe you've hooked left for right and vice versa... Just an idea.

That's why I dont buy anything else than electronics from Sony. Sony would better sell its music and movie industry and go back to what was intended to be. Sony engineers make money to be wasted on Hollywood. I knew that Sonicstage was a crap from the beginning, but being that naive in software arena to inject a virus like code is on top of all. YESS! I ripped an audio CD AAL @256, and transfered to my HD5 as is. It seems that there is no wait for conversion, they were uploaded Atrac3+ @256. Then I transfered the same album to my MZ-NH1 atrac+@352 and there had been conversion and wait... but everything went smoothly. I wish we had an option to rip CD's @352

Can som1 explain to me what is the use of 352kbs? AAL's highest is 256kbs and Atrac3+ is 320kbs. So how we will be able to use 352kbs from lesser bitrates?

The problem is that there were too many SS installer for the SS 3.2 which were uncompatible with one another. The installers had different sizes, and I had to find the same installer to be able to share my files between my PC and notebook. Now it seems that my nightmare came back. I think I acted early for the 3.3, for I know the North American version of 3.3 will ask me to delete all my tracks or re-initialize once again. Anyway I think I'll play a bit with this new toy. BTW where is the lossless options? I see here 352kbs, but no lossless when I'm on the transfer screen.

And I have to re-initialize my HD5... Are we going to do that when each new SS is released? God I hate to delete my 15gig from my HD5.

Many people use multiple computers nowadays. All you have to do is to convince SS that you are coming from within the US. To do this go to the following page and chose a US transparent proxy and copy/paste it to your IE connection LAN settings with port values of course.
