Congrats MDCF, this is great news. I hope more people find this site for their minidisc help. Lets try for more in the coming year!!

I agree with Merly about MD recording becoming a very small profession market and all. With that said I will still be using my MD players and enjoining a better listening and sounding music experience. I am pointing at all you ipod people P.S. about freaking time Sonystyle!!! I should be ordering mine in a couple of days YES! But yet they are not offering the "LIP-4WM Lithium Ion battery" hmm looks like I am going on ebay...
-
Does anyone know if Sonystyle USA has them in yet? I keep checking the site and will prolly call the Woodfield store this monday. ^^;
-
Thats to bad about the site, But minidisc's will live on!!!! On a side note I am waiting for the sonystyle store to get in the MZ-RH1. I will have to wait a bit longer until they come to the states. (Still nothing on their website!!)

ThunderBird FTW!!!!

I still believe in MD, and my friends love to tinker and play with my MZ-N505. I do plane to buy a MZ-RH10 and start to record things, but at this time I still just laugh at my friends with there puny 14 hour Ipods next to my 32 or so hour MD. And as for HDD players, I still think about getting a sony NW-HD3 (I don't like the HD5s.) Yet,I need to look into to a little longer.

Welcome TO MDCF, I hope this site can help you as it has others and myself P.S. I soooo want that Hi-md unit, MZ-RH10..... you will be mine one of these days...one of these days.........

Ok, so I was wondering if any of you MiniDisc nuts have seen anyone(who you did not already know) with a minidisc unit either new or old and just sparked up a conversion with them? For me if was at work, someone on first shift had a "MZ-N420D gray" I stared talking to her and she said: "I liked it more then the flash/HDD players and it was cheaper" and, her words not mine was, "it was cute!" Now its your turn to share your stories, they could be from a couple years ago to whenever.

I love MD and will soon be getting a Hi-Md player the RH-10, but at times I just stop and think to myself.. "I wonder what it would be like to have 20Gb of music in my hand?" 1. yes I have every thing I could ever hear in one nice package. 2. what time would I have to listen to it all? 3. What happens if it gets stolen/lost, or you somehow break it? Whats nice about MiniDisc is: #1 I only ever have about 2 discs on my at any given time plus the one in my player because they hold in for me in LP4: 2hours 30mins and some odd seconds = 70ish songs #2 Its nice to know that if your MD unit breaks then at least you have your minidisc's and can just buy another player. #3 same goes for if you lose your discs you still have the player. #4 WHO IN THERE RIGHT MIND WILL EVER HAVE TIME TO LISTEN TO 20GB OF MUSIC!!! I can't remember how many hours of music I have(over 20Gb) but I know that I will never have the time to listen to it all. There was awhile back some site/page that said how long 40gb of music would take to listen to and it was crazy. I also hate SS but will soon be upgrading to 3.4 so hopfuly it fixs a lot of the problems that make me hate it so. Plus>>if I was to get a Harddrive player, I would have to go with the MZ-HD3. Ipods are just a fad same as starsbucks coffee is*. and I hear that the Ipods sound is flat? is this true if so then I love my MD player all the more and can rub it in the Ipodeds of the world HAHAHA!!! *(but the coffee thing is still going strong hmmm...)

This place is great I plan to be here for a long time. I had always thought about becoming a member then one day I said to myself this is it, and here I am.

Foobar2000 ahh yes this indeed was a fantastic player to be used by all. At one point in time I had both of them installed and I just stayed with winamp, but if I did not use it, be sure that Foobar2000 (gaa I can not belive I forgot about you)would be there to welcome me back.

I have been using SS1.5 for the longest time to tranfer music files to my MD, but it would always slow down and has crashed a couple of times. But I found that you can use Realplayer to move your songs to it with out haveing to deal with this piece of crap sony has given us. The only problem I have with it, is the fact that you have to use it!! "gaa I hate anything Real" no pun intended My setup is Winamp for audio and VLC/ZoomPlayer for video. It has not let me down and I don't think it ever will. On a side note: I have constantly been looking for an audio player that can outdue Winamp in different file types it plays to features it has, so far nothing has come up and I still use Winamp.

Lets see...well It was about a year ago at college when I saw my friend with his MD player(he had three all together) and at the end of the day I started thinking about them a lot, then look them up on the internet and got more and more interested in the format. I asked him why he liked it and said "the sound is fantastic" and I keep talking to him about it for another hour or so getting more wide eyed every minute at this audioplayer he praised. In the end he sold me one of his units,(for $30!! and gave me a bunch of discs!) I picked the MZ-N505 and since then I have fallen for these little discs, and have spent a lot of time looking into them and reading what I could find about the latest models and such. Since then the only other player I have bought is the MZ-N420D "aka one of the lame looking and featureless psyc players that sony is trying to pass off as a good buy". All in all they are not bad but I need something better, and for the moment its just there if my MZ-N505 desides to die on me So far so good. Right now I am thinking about getting into the Hi-MD sceen once I get money. Also if there is anyone out their that has a car unit (single Din) could they tell my where to buy one, and I have looked everywhere and all what I found was... Sonys Explode MD unit is sold in europe and not here for something like 270$ or they are over 1,000$ and thats to much for me. Any help would be great thanks
