  1. I'll second your recommendation. Just got my SA1000 and am currently breaking them in. A quick listen right from the box was amazingly good. I think it will become one of my favorites.
  2. Impedance on the HD 595 is 120 ohms. You would need a dedicated headphone amplifier to achieve any presence, impact, and soundstage. They are wonderful phones. I have the Senn HD 555 with an impedance of 50 ohms, and my RH910 drives those OK but when I add an external amp, I feel as though I am listening to phones that cost three times the price of the 555's. A small, portable amp is a nice sound upgrade.
  3. Sony RH-10 Hi-MD is in Mint condition both functionally and cosmetically purchased less than a month ago from Amazon. I have used it for approximately three hours at the very most for playback of pre-recorded MDs. I have not used it to record. Comes with all original packaging and accessories including remote as well as a Case Logic zippered case, and I am also including 5 new Sony color 80min. blank MDs. Paid $250 not including the case or minidiscs (will include the Amazon receipt). Selling because I have two other MD units and don't really need Hi-MD. SOLD
  4. Purchased one of his advertised pre-recorded MD's. Shipping was very quick and the MD arrived in excellent condition. Would be most happy to deal with him again.
  5. Guess I'm pretty much old school: Cream The Band The Doors Procul Harum The Stones
  6. Nothing much....just a ten-pack of Burari's.
  7. Kenny Wheeler's, "What Now," features Kenny on flugelhorn, Chris Potter on tenor sax, John Taylor on the piano, and Dave Holland on the double bass. This is a great Jazz album and it's very well recorded.

    Hi-MD

I started out with Sony MD units in the 90's. At one time, I owned over 75 pre-recorded MD's. When some of the first MP3 players came out, I purchased an original Archos unit and gave up my MD gear. Since then, I have owned Creative players, iRiver, Rio, iPods, and more than a handful of others. Having owned, used, bought, and sold so many MP3 players, I always felt something was missing with their collective versatility, SQ, and just plain convenience. It took some time, but what goes around eventually comes back around. Today I own both an RH10 and an RH910 along with a Sony D-NE10 PCDP, and couldn't be happier. A GB of music at 256kbps is more than enough for me. The convenience to record, change my music at will, and the MD unit's portability, battery life, and sound quality have brought me back to the format I had always really just felt at home with. I don't know where MD will be three or four years from now, but I am very pleased knowing that what I have suits my needs perfectly.
