  1. Thanks Avrin. My XP pro box has BeyondCompare2 from Scooter. So it is relatively easy to see what is in the original folder and what is in the converted folder. The only tricky thing is that I have moved folders and have moved albums around. I will definitely need to do an inventory first. Ming
  2. I understand why we want to UNSELECT 'Add DRM', but why would we want to UNSELECT 'Delete Files' ? Thanks for your help ! Ming
  3. Thanks, Avrin, rebooting and unplugging my other USB cables helped and I can transfer again now. Thank you. Ming
  4. Hi, I have a PC which has an SS 4.2 library with 4000+ tracks. Today all of a sudden, the transfer from MD stops working: usually it would ask me if I really wanted to transfer etc but now it doesn't even ask. I have a laptop also with SS 4.2, and the same MD player, same HiMD transfers OK to the laptop. So I am guessing it is the software on my PC, not the MD or MD player, or the cable. Is there an upper limit for the size of my music library? Or did I "knock" some settings off ? If so, is there some way to "reset" this so that I can again transfer HiMD to my PC? Thank you very much. From Ming
  5. I won't be able to pick up my RH-1 for a day or two, so I just upgraded to SS 4.2 and it all went smoothly.
  6. I have finally got an RH1 coming in the next day or two. Currently I am using SonicStage 3.4 Can I install 4.2 on top as is, or do I to do some clean up like when I went from SonicStage 2.x to 3.4 ? Or should I wait till I get my RH1 ? Thank you, from Ming in Brisbane
  7. Thank you, RainTheory. I assume you are talking about auto-group mode on the unit, not in SonicStage. Time for me to dig out the manual. Ming
  8. Thanks for pointing me to this thread, raintheory. Why would renaming mic recorded tracks with ascending prefix "00x-" be a pain? I am using SS 3.4 currently, and I think it already does rename mic recorded tracks with ascending prefix "00x-". My MD recorder does have date/time stamp. Thanks from Ming
  9. Thanks Avrin Does anyone have a handy link for upgrading to SS 4.2 from 3.4 ? Hopefully I won't have to do the fancy steps when moving from 2.1 to 3.4 again. Thanks from Ming
  10. I keep most of my recordings (rehearsals, practices) in HiMD LP format and they are scattered across two computers, each running SonicStage 3.4 What is the most convenient way to merge two collections into a big collection please? Thanks in advance, from Ming
  11. after 5 hours or so, I decided to pull the power + battery off. I was able to download to PC. Cheers. Ming
  12. Thanks Stephen. My legacy MDs are recorded in LP4 format, not SP. If you say that legacy MDs are uploaded x2 speed, then it is not worth my while to purchase an RH1, I believe. Putting things on the PC will take ages. Thank you for your help.
  13. G'day I had a rehearsal tonight and used my MZ-NH1 to record using HiMD LP. During playback, I added a couple markers and then removed one. All of a sudden the NH1 told me there was a read error and has been busy SYS WRITE ever since. Not sure if I should stop it somehow, and if anyone has tricks to "recover" whatever may have been lost. Thanks for any pointers. Ming
  14. Avrin, can you post the URL please? Thanks from Ming
  15. I have about 200+ legacy MDs (music lessons, rehearsals, radio broadcast) before switching to HiMD with MZ-NH1. I am using SonicStage 3.4 to listen to Atrac3 files. I would like to get an MZ-RH1 and have a few questions: (1) can I split and combine legacy tracks on SonicStage like I am currently doing with HiMD files? (2) can I remove copyright (again, like I do with SS + HiMD)? (3) will I need to upgrade my version of SS? Thanks for any comments. Ming
  16. G'day I have been recording things off the radio in analogue, lessons and rehearsals with a microphone on my MZ-NH1. Lately some uploades from a 1GB disk have been "successful" and I can see it in My Library, but as soon as I unplug, it also disappears from My Library! Has anyone come across this problem? Any pointers would be much appreciated. Ming in Brisbane
  17. Sorry for a dumb question. What is DRM and are we talking about removing DRM on HDD or MD? Thanks from Ming
  18. Hello, I often record FM radio or off a microphone (lessons, rehearsals) using my MZ-NH1. When I upload using SonicStage 3.4 it names the (unnamed) track using the recording date/time stamp. However, if I recorded anything using MZ-NH700, and use my MZ-NH1 to upload to SonicStage 3.4, it seems that the date/time is an invalid date/time. Has anyone experienced this or have some insight? I did a search on this forum and nothing caught my eye. Thanks in advance... Ming
  19. thanks, Nismo and Jayle. Yes, 300+ is quite a number. My sister (who mistook my lined-up MDs for a train set) gave us an MZ-R700 on our wedding day so most of the service was recorded. It just went from there: choir rehearsals, singing lessons, piano lessons, etc. I am sure there are better ways to record off FM radio directly onto hard drive than wearing out my MD recorder but haven't looked into it. But it is the MZ-RH1 I should be saving up for, and back up all my older MDs onto a hard drive... Ming
  20. G'day I have been meaning to organise my 350+ MDs (bits of radio programmes, music lessons, rehearsals, practice etc). More than half of these are numbered ... a short note for each is kept on a spreadsheet. I laid the minidiscs on the bedroom floor (I have those TDK blue stands that holds 8 MDs). Whoops my sister thought from a distance that I bought a train set ... my wife kept tripping over them and was not impressed. Luckily the vacuum cleaner does not have a large enough mouth to swallow my precious MDs. How do you organise your MDs and keep them out of harm's way? A lot of them (about 300) were from pre-HiMD times and they will stay in MDs. HiMD is kind of a half way house for me nowadays - they get transferred to my hard drive. Appreciate any ideas. Thank you! from Ming in sunny Brisbane
  21. Thanks Borat. I tried it in SS34 and it works. Pity it does not show you how many seconds into the recording etc. I have not used Audacity, but have used GoldWave before.
  22. G'day, apart from using the T MARK button on my MZ-NH1 to add a track mark, is there another way (eg via SS34)? I would much rather do editing on my PC than on the unit. Thanks for any pointers. Ming, Brisbane, Australia
