  1. I need to CALIBRATE my recordings, so that when i look at the -dBFS, I know what SPL (sound pressure level) it corresponds to. A simple way is to have pink noise, measure its SPL, and then, given particular mics and gain setting, look at the dBFS. I'd also like to do this by knowing the sensitivity of the mic, the actual gain of the preamp for a given setting, and the top voltage of the ADC (at 0 dBFS). Does anyone know the actual gain of the SONY RH910 for a particular setting, and the top voltage of the ADC. Also for the SHARP MTMD 280. Thank you, Martin Krieger, krieger@usc.eduk
  2. I have a Sony HiMD recorder, MZ RH910. When you adjust the gain manually, you get these numbers like 23 or 14. Depending on whether it is High or Low sensitivity, they seem to be separated by 10 units. That is H14=L24. In any case, does anyone know how many deciBels separate each unit. I think it is one unit=one dB gain, but I am not at all sure. Could you write me directly at my email address below as well as post. Thank you. Martin Krieger Krieger@usc.edu
