    Yamaha MD

I guess the MD8 is about 3 yrs old now. If I'm recording on it, I mix down to 2 tracks, and upload to a software editor for final tweaking of the audio, but if I've recorded more than 2 tracks on the MD8 it has to be an analogue connection. If I only use 2 track recording on the MD8, I can use the Data minidisc from the MD8 in the Sony JB920 minidisc deck. and upload to computer in the digital domain. I have difficulty getting my head round Audio/MIDI sequencing, so prefer the MD8 for multi track recording, and use the 2 tracks from MD8 as the master track in the software sequencer, to add MIDI to it, if needed, from a keyboard controller, though I could add analogue signals from the MIDI keyboard to the MD8 I use the Mac platform, with Bias Peak as the Audio Editor and Metro as the Audio/MIDI sequencer. wrt Yamaha service. I've never used it, but if I've needed help, I ask on the Yamaha forums, where, as usual with discussion forums, you might get a speedier and more satisfactory response from users of the equipment.

    Yamaha MD

For what it's worth, I still use a Yamaha MD8 deck. It does for me, even though a bit dated now. I use it mainly for mixing down to the computer, but if I need to use a MD unit, I have a Sony MDS-JB920. The sound is good from both, and I would have great difficulty in hearing any difference between the two units. The specs of the Yamaha don't mention which version of Atrac is used, so I can't comment, but it's still a good sound
