I own the MZ-b10 , Here is how you do it , Download Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net It is a freebie , also follow the instructions for downloading and installing the LAME encoder ( gives you mp3 abilty) . Then from the headphone out of the B10 , connect to the line input of your sound card on the computer, Open Audacity , and on the toolbar ( at the top left) Klik the word "Audacity" a drop down will open , klik "Preferences" another window opens, For"Audio I/O" select your line input , Audacity will record from practically anything connected to your computer, so you have to select the sound source. Then still in the preferences window , on the left side , you set up your quality , File types , Directories( where you want stuff to go) etc. Save and close , then close and reopen Audacity ( The preferences will now be active) Audacity will then work just like a Tape recorder, Tap the Meter bar in Audacity (Upper Right) to make the input meters active hit play on the B10 ,and adjust its level watching the meters. when the levels are set stop and rewind the B10 , hit record in Audacity ,and play on the B10 . Here is an example http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?s=&am...st&p=118573 Troublesome I know but Your now capturing what is on the B10 , you will also find many other uses for Audacity I like My B10 too , quick and dirty . Hit one button and forget it , It isnt the quality of the RH1 or anyother stereo recorder ( which if you hook a Stereo mic up you will have stereo) Also take note of this so you wont be suprised , When you use NiMHD batteries instead of Alkalines , the Voltage level is slightly different , and there will be some small noises in your recording as the motor noise suppressor has to over compensate because it doesnt have quite the same juice. I use fresh Batts for critical stuff , and rechargables for Idea catching , the Sanyo 2700 ma batts seem to work much better and I dont hear hardly any compensator nois at all. Good life on a fresh charge as well . Recorded all day on one set at a convention.

54k.....hey we are Modem speed now .......wonder if we will hit Broadband.

I Absolutely agree with 440 , I almost always have to tweak something to get it to sound the way I want it to , (thereby bypassing the EQ settings on my MD and saving battery life) I just dont like having to adjust EQ for every different thing I play , stick it in and hit play ....period. If it is for sale , then that is the Bands business, their sound( whether it sux or not )

My MZ-R70 lasted almost 6 years , ( It was still going when I let it go) and I thouroghly , used, abused , that unit I recorded soooo many MD's I lost count, friends were the recipient of a great many of that units recordings. Non LP . It would absolutely have to be the MZ-R50 , which I still have and is still working great ( Needs a new Battery, the LIP-8 has given up ) Someone want to send me a couple from the US ? they want 5,200 yen here for a replacement , I see them online there from a different maker for under 20 dollars

Hey yall , I took that file down (sorry ) I want to figure out how to post it in the album but not for download , just so it streams. ( I knw everyone will figur a way around that) but I would like to get a few songs up just for the MD people not for the general public ( A show of appreciation?) I like the forums , forgive my debating nature , It is just nice that this community does exist to talk about a common interest and not turn it into a political bashing arena , ....To bash a Politician , all you have to do is record them on your MD and play it back later , whatever they say , it will come back to slap them. I will either post them here or on my website with a locked password link . Once I learn how

That song I posted , they were using the Yamaha 16 channel USB miker I was mentioning , had it running both to a Laptop ( recording to Protools) and the stage setup, Sounded pretty good, They were using small EV monitors and about 150 watts per channel amp ( but they obviously didnt have it cranked up) The mixer was it a booth ( like a desk with a wall around the top) and the Laptop behind that wall as well , you couldnt hear a thing , it was nice. http://www.yamahasynth.com/products/mw/index.html A couple of mixers to look at

Appriciate that , I used it the other night , http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showt...amp;st=30&# I posted an mp3 there Didnt really notice any thing , Editing on the RH1 itself is glitchy, but with both the remote and the RH1 ( Edit functions like , move, erase , and other stuff , I cant access on the remote ,that sux) Actually the only track marking is the Pause button on the remote so I dont use that . I want live track marks ( uninterupted sound flow) That is why I have to do that on the RH1 after the fact

You are hooked up BACWARDS ..... come from the "Line Out " or "Headphone Out" on the MD . to the LINE IN on your Laptop

File deleted

But if you read the whole three pages , and the Product page , it is easy to see why it costs so much,
-
And you have it in Manual rec mode right ? I am trying to figure out volume pumping too , . Audio quality is good I am just wonering if during the conversion something is trying to " Normalize" the levels

Hey Booj , what machine are you using? which MD?
-
Be glad your not married to it , ....forgetting it's name in the middle of doin it , ........long dry spell comin dude
-
It has a 1gb internal memory for copyinga cd to , or mp3 storage , I didnt see anything about Atrac in the specs, that is a USB out , it does have an analouge line input so you could play MD thru it.

Cool Vintage gear dude , hold on to those, I bought the 40elk remote for the RH1 yesterday , and it solved one of my MAJOR complaints with the RH1 , It gave me Recording Level control from the remote w/ meters , Happy camper For evryone else here is what that mic looks like http://www.saturn-sound.com/images/hammond...0microphone.jpg Read the specs on the original ad , 20-20khz Flat this is what im talikng about in the other forum about your mics and pres making all the difference http://www.saturn-sound.com/images/advert%...#39;%201965.gif

Actually you dont need to be in pause , its live rec control baby , full motion very smooth while recording and I LOVE the meters on the remote , I have been playing with this thing for the past three hours , drove my wife nuts , ( She is sleeping now , other wise Id STILL be doin sumfin

No I did the School Chorus with the B10 , just down from the Taiko , there are two pics of the auditorium. one pic of the b10 on the chair, and the other with the Kids singing. Which is why I was mad at myself , the kids were good and I should have ad the RH1 and the AT , that wouldve been nice
-
I used to have that mic , Mid side , two positions , Set it at 120 , On the MD, manual Rec level , Mic Sensitivity low, Rec Level watch the meter and keep it 2-3db down from the peak at the loudest sounds, If you use the Auto Rec level , its going to be all over the place. Go listen to this mp3 , done on the RH1 with an AT 822 , Taiko Drums ( doesnt get bigger than that ) in an enclosed room , explosive sound levels, http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=18772 2006 I recorded that , and I couldve gotten it better but I wasnt paying attention enough to my levels

Ok update , I got the RH1 running again , Took the battery out and let it set for ten minutes , hooked up the power supply with no battery in it , set the clock all that jazz, then put the battery in with the supply hooked up , Charge indicator came on , and stayed on , and it charged properly , I am recording on it now. Update The 40elk remote is officially cool ,the only thing missing is that the Record button isnt on the remote , Cant set the Mic Sens from there either.

I went out today and bought the 40elk remote, was enjoying it thouroghly , came home needed to charge the battery in th RH1 so I hooked up to my Computer (Mac) Charge indicator comes on , I had a regular MD in it so the HI MD Transfer did not start up . Charge goes out , so I hit the stop button and unhooked the RH1 , tried to play , nothing , nada no lights no nothing , I hook up to the regular power supply it played , So I put in a and MD that I recorded in HI MD disc mode and hooed it back up to the comp, it still said MD mode on the RH1 .......???? so I hit the Stop button , treid to play , nothing nada. Ejected the disc , It is right now plating in my MZ B10 ..which DOES NOT PLAY HI MD , this disc was recorded in HI MD mode , it is reading as LP4 And the RH1 lays quitely doing nothing ..........
