HardOff = Gadjet Junkie Heaven In Japan they have what are called "Recycle Shops " Hardoff is a Chain version , and quite upscale . Buy /Sell Comp stuff , Audio stuff , Whatever stuff they got it .
-
You reaaly should record some stuff with it , and Make a Batt pack with parts from Radio Shack , A 4 cell AA holder that has a 9volt type connector on top , and then a Cable to go from that to the MD Gives you a quick recharge ,on the go !
-
Speaking of sound, I had to go to Hardoff today to sell because I am so broke , but while I was there , in the Junk bin was a Perfect example of someone not following directions. The owners manuals tell you very clearly not to use any chemicals when you clean your MD . So basically given to me was the Victor XM-D1 Other wise new , very little use , MSRP when new 1300 dollars . The Powder Coat had vulcanized into a Gummy mess the WHOLE thing I spent the past three hours scrubbing the coating off with Carnuba Wax so as not to damage to under coating . The Labels were stenciled on the Rubber coating so as a result I will not have any Markers for the buttons . But it is halfway cleaned , plugged in and currently playing Regina Carter , ........Yes It is ALL about the sound And to the person who used the chemical that caused this mess ----> Read the friggin Manual

Mac .... is a State of Mind !!!

Good Call 440 .... that and the split track / Copy /Paste and bingo job done.

But did you have the 8 Track RECORDER , from then ,...... and the fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror. ? Dont ask me I aint talkin
-
Must have taken a pretty bad hit then .
-
So , just who really has some MD History ???
-
I also have 2 , a Silver and a Blue .
-
so if you scroll the menu on the MD , it doesnt show the action on the remote? that sux , what I meant was to use the menu buttons on the MD while WATCHING the remote , Not using the remote .
-
You forgot Science Theater 3000 , and No Mention of Star Wars, Star Trek , Dr Who , ??? Shame on you ,..... I am disappointed , ( hmmmm I am tring to remember if I had ever been Appointed , ....... so how could I be Dis Appointed if I hadnt been Appointed , Gotta think about that one)
-
when you go into menu , it doesnt show on the remote??? on the RH1 it does ....sort of
-
OK hungerdunger another correction , .... I thought you could edit. Just guess the portables ???? I am on a Mac so ,I havent used Sonic Stage .that would seem restrictive though . I never used MD with a Windows sytem , everything was done in the MD's themselves , all recording, editing , etc. I didnt actually start uploding anything from MD till I got the RH1 , in fact that is why I got it . But now the Flash based recorders are taking over . @vore .. why Howard Stern ??? The md doesnt deserve that !!!!!
-
Not really all that much BS , Sony as we all know is leaving the ATRAC format behind . It is firmly associated with MD it is MD's propietary format , and MD represents a failed history in Sony's eyes .......So Out goes MD , and out goes Atrac . It might be throwing the Baby out with the Bathwater , but Sony doesnt really have a choice . The technologie was there to record in an open format from the beginning . Sony could have Made the MD from its inception a Wav , recorder , could have based it in FAT , and we would have devices that were the BANE of all recording industries at our fingertips . But , the idea of Control crept in a Looooooong time ago . So we are stuck with that .
-
Ahhh , ok he downloaded to the MD , then editing in the MD , not before hand ,got it. yeah that sucks
-
The shock value of that alone was worth the price of admission to that show wasnt it . ? I had all the Pro decks from Marantz back then , and abused them daily , then when I heard the MZ1 , .... it was like Time just stopped for a moment and stood perfectly still just long enough for the slap of the new reality to hit me squarely in the face . We as long term MDer's are in need of one of those really good slaps right about now , just one good really exiting one before Sony drops us off the face of the earth.

Welcome to DRM John. Cant use files from one computer on another . The slow way , is to use programs like a Wav converter Or here on the boards is HiMD renderer , once the files ae in WAV format with the DRM stripped off of them they can be moved around If you have a Mac and an RH1 you wouldnt have that problem. Everything gets imported as WAV from the MD , so it goes staight to an open file with no DRM attached , With the exeption of Downloading to the RH1 , then it cannot be transfered or uploaded to another computer from the RH1 , but the Open WAV file can be freely moved , just put it on a CD as data not an Audio CD . Or external HDD , USB Drive etc.

Hey another R50 owner . The best most reliable hardest working peice of gear Sony ever made , cool ......
-
I think he meant Freezed , his english sounds like it is under very heavy northern european constraints . But , yeah that is sad about the RH1 , it sounds like he does a LOT of downloading /uploading though . 5 HIMD's not standard mds HI md's at 1 sitting ??? Just how much is he using it everyday ? and how does it get treating in the interim . Sounds like Heavy Daily use and a Record head Cable issue . He just needs to get it to Sony .

In Audacity , move the Playhead marker to where you want to make a divison , go up to "Edit " Divide Track , or Split track . or easier , is just to drag and highlight the part you dont want , and hit Delete on your keyboard . Take the time to read the help files in Audacity , That program if you really take the time to get to know it intsead of surface skimming like most people do , has quite a few tricks up it's sleeve . And yes all the Recording Portables will let you edit ,track marks etc.
-
Would it show as a Hard drive on a Mac ,........ That is the Question
-
Raja , if you would have been there for the First MD like I was , that first Sonic image would still be burned into your mind so firmly , that an iPod would only have been an afterthought nothing more . To go from the days of Cassette directly to the Sound of MD ...... I still remember .

The battery is Model no. BN-R3610 there might be a few in Europe , probably Poland , Czek Republic , France , Germany or Russia so you will need to use an online translation to get an order thru
