  1. Update the one we felt last night just after midnight was not on our side , it was just 100 miles south of the original but strong enough that it shook the crap out of us , current estimates was another 6.8 just off the coast on the Japan sea side. Now it is raining really hard on top of all that . The seismological institute is saying there are going to be a lot of aftershocks with this one , because of the linear distribution of the forces in the plates , and they are going to happen up and down the coast , we are in for a rough ride. Several days worth
  2. so far there have been over 70 aftershocks , the news on the net , that is in English is all messed up , It is really bad up there , cracks in the ground that could swallow a house ,whole cliffsides gone , trains derailed , the size of the after shocks are substanial as well 5.8's 4.2 , 6. 0 a lot of smaller ones but several big ones , It is on the other side of Japn from here but we felt it . then last night a good one on our side shook the whole house.
  3. Hey Wiz , that disc you sent me sounds fantastic dude , Merci bo coups and then some , I am almost done with this one major guitar repair then I can sit down and go thru the LP's to make a list . ( I am gonna bet you have more than Half of it already )
  4. I was reading an interview with Sony engineers talking about SS , and one thing that was said was that SS tries to examine the Wave form of what is being imported and Identifies the artist from the Anticipated match to the waveform . I could not see that working from the moment I read it . I am on a Mac .
  5. Yes the controls are limited , I still use my R50 as much as the RH1 , But I have the 40 elk remote , and it actually makes the RH1 usefull . The Main plus , Is that whatever you record in Hi MD mode , get uploaded as a Wav file on the Mac , so you go straight to Audio programs for editing and mastering . The USB problem is solved by external USB battery packs , In Many ways , I wish they would come out with a closing statement in the form of Remaking the MZ-1 the very first Recorder , but in HiMd format and a 4 AA slide in battery pack It had Opitical in/out both , manual Rec level via a Dial seperate line out from the headphone jack and a Standard DC power jack That would be the way to say good bye , is to finish where you started but do it right. The size for a recordist isnt an issue
  6. You need to turn Sync off, the only thing Sync is used for is CD to MD recording .
  7. The only thing realy to do about old recordings is to record from the old MD to the RH1 (set to HiMD of course) or record directly into the computer sound card , I know that sux , but the give and take of it is this, Only the Mac uploads directly to Wav , with Windows you have to go thru conversions. The Mac Soft was designed for the working audio tracker , who goes out records , uploads and burns , The Windows side is designed for the Audio collector , Who has 30 bazillion songs and an mp3 player And by the way , welcome to the MD community
  8. only the first albumn ... she was cute then , shhhhhhh dont tell nobody
  9. First , the technologie is only for HiMD , you will only be able to upload Himd format to the Mac , The Sonic stage Software for Windows lets you upload legacy recordings. The Sofware that came with it is version 1.0 right , it has a lot of bugs in it . They fixed most of the problems and simplified to interface , you need to download version 2.0 I have the RH1 and a Macbook Pro , core2duo , and OSx 10.4.1 http://support.sony-europe.com/DNA/Music_T...fer/MT.asp?l=en there is the link to the software , first Uninstall 1.0 get rid of all folders ok , then open the 2.0 dmg , you should be fine afer that PM me for how it works.
  10. I think it is Probably Madonna........ just a thought .
  11. Did you get it used or new?
  12. Anybody else feel it ? Eighty one you here? All Japan people ring in
  13. In the US anyway , exept that the Chinese copiest might have you beat by a few DVD recorders , The MD ,....You got em .
  14. sfbp , welcome to MD community . You will find a lot of audiophiles here , a few recording studio guys ( I am one of them ) and some tech knowledgeable as well . Now to revert to my id the ways of the source , learn you must , frequency analysis , bit rates , and debates , the way of the Dark Side this is . The way of the Source is clean , and sometimes , Analouge it is , consider it not we must from where the Source comes , but always Listen to the source we must hmmmm. Software to Edit noise , we have , use we will , But the Source , it is all powerfull , it is everywhere , it binds us together , i gives generously to those knowing the source , Whether Digital or Analouge , of the Microphone , it is the Source . Learn .... hmmmmm The Way of the Source , Happiness , Bring you it Will ........hmmmm , rest ... must rest
  15. That is a Long swin , then the bike ride , and slipping thru customs , and fighting with the moose ...... just to get to the stereo . The mark of a True "Guy" Must save the stereo. the ship can sink , the House can burn , the world can end , just DONT TOUCH THE JAMS>>>>>>>>.. or the Broche the Grandma bought at pier 39 and absolutely swears its from the Titanic
  16. If you can get the Mic up high ,10 feet or so back at least 20 feet from the stage (farther would be better , ) set 120 , AGC from that distance the transient peaks wont be strong enough to engage the limiter Or use Manual Rec , level at about 20 mic Sens high , then while the rehearsal check the meters keep it down 4 -or 5 db under , because rehearsal will be quiere than the performance . Maybe even lower .I dont use the 907 so I cant really say I have the AT 822 , and an older 959a The 822 is the one I always fall back on . I have a Baroque Quintet recording up that is basically what I just described Except I had the Back wall at my disposal and the room was smaller than a chamber , in a chamber you will need to balance the position of the mic against the size of the room to control the reverb , closer to the stage less reverb , farther from the stage more reverb , Depending on the size of the chamber , 20 feet should be about right.
  17. Knew youd be back ! too quiet round here Ray , make some noise
  18. Indeed , Welcome to MD . Take the time to really understand the machine and will not regret for one moment the choice. Bob we have a Typhoon that is doing some damage so be patient, somewhere towards the end of the month , I will send the mail.
  19. U2 Joshua Tree , Original LP on the Turntable 1987
  20. Here is what the cable looks like, The connector looks an awful lot like a CDMI cell phone connector
  21. Dude , he said he bought it on EBAY
  22. The only products that will give you exactly what your looking for are high end . Here is a list of them . Fostex W/6 channels http://www.fostexinternational.com/docs/pr...ducts/pd6.shtml Tascam 98r 8 channels each channel seperate http://www.tascam.com/details;8,11,32.html Edirol R4 Pro W/smpte and time code locking , only 4 channles though , but very nice features , removable media . Fast link etc http://www.edirol.com/index.php?option=com...&Itemid=385 And here is a Link to a page at Fullcompass , I would browse around on Full compass web site if I were you , better yet call them and talk to Ron Vogel , he will definately point you in the right direction . http://www.fullcompass.com This wont be a cheap fix , but among the B stock stuff at Fullcompass , there is bound to be a recorder that will fit that bill. The other opition is to have an Interface connected to a computer that is running software that will record 8 channels simultaniously , if your on a Mac I can help with that I have some software for that purpose , not bells no whitsles , just 8 tracks , each saved as individual wave files.
  23. yes just leave it plugged in for awhile longer , no charge indication after the light goes out . Odd isnt it , It think maybe Sony did that as a way to prevent overcharging . Lithiums reaalllly dont like to be overcharged . It kills them . generally I will leave the RH1 on the charge about an hour after the light goes out , but not more than.
  24. Does he qualify as a "Luke " ??? hmmmmm think of this I will , the Source , see in him I do not . Many years the Source .. known it I have .... hmmmmm ... Luke he is not . but the way of the Source ,, learn it he may .... hmmm soon ... see we will ,..... the way of this one.
