  1. Many thanks for your swift reply, now all I have to do is get the unit out of my Hi-Fi stack. Regards
  2. As the title says. I assumed there was a drive belt that operated the load/eject mechanism and managed to locate and obtain two replacements. I've looked at the service manual but can't fathom out how to change the belt. It doesn't seem to be shown in the diagrams. How would I replace it and how difficult would it be. Thanks in advance Chris Caudy

    Charging Voltage

AFAIK, the USB voltage is 5v from a PC and this corresponds to the wording on the mains charger pack. In short, they're both 5 volts. Regards
  4. Try this from the sister forum, it worked for me ... http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8071 You'll have to register but it's free and only takes a minute, it's a great resource for SonicStage problems
  5. I've had a similar problem just trying to burn an ATRAC CD from imported CD tracks, solved it (to a degree) by downgrading to SS3.4. Couldn't see anything wrong with the titles of the files as imported into the library though.
  6. If i'm correct, aren't there settings in the SS Tools menu to set your preferences as to how you would like to store any imported files in the SS LIbrary, if they're being imported as 128k files then this is your problem. It's the page that mentions how much hard disc page is required to store imported audio. Options are ATRAC (several bitrates), ATRACplus (several bitrates), uncompressed wave format etc. I'm sorry if this isn't clear, I'm not at a SS equipped machine here. For example, I import CD audio uncompressed (1411kbs) to allow for various encoding rates be it ATRAC or MP3 or just to copy a CD. Also I'm not sure which sampling rates that SS is happy with. IIRC earlier versions of SS wouldn't accept 48k sample rate MP3s. Get the import preferences right and your encoding preferences for MP3 on CD and you should be away. Regards
  7. Thanks Stuge, yes I am able to burn discs using Nero, and have found like yourself that firmware upgrades are like hen's teeth for this drive. I'll try a complete uninstall of SS3.3 including clearing the registry and folders. Thanks for your help. Clearing the registry and folders, backing up the music database, then re-installing SS3.3 worked. Thanks for yuor support Stuge
  8. Thanks for your reply Stuge, no I haven't contacted Sony yet. The Laptop is a Medion MAM2010 with a QSI CDRW/DVD SBW 242 combi drive. Does this shed any light?
  9. Hi guys, I'm having problems burning ordinary audio CDs from SS 3.3 on a Medion laptop (XP Home, SP2 applied) on its internal CDRW drive. Setting up the burning process proceeds as normal, allowing me to select a burning speed (from x4 to x32). burning speed x16 chosen (which shouldn't overstress an Athlon 2400 XP-m system with 256 Mb, should it?) SS then spins up the disc in the drive, then does burn data to the CD(R in this case) then announces that the burn has completed succesfully. Unfortunately the disc is entirely unreadable in any machine I have to hand including an ATRAC CD Walkman. I have found it is possible to burn a single track successfully but this is rather expensive in CDRs(!). I can burn successfully to an external APACER STENO 80 USB connected drive. As yet I haven't tried to create an ATRAC or MP3 format disc as I feel the problem is down to driving the internal burner correctly. Burning wasn't possible in SS2.0 either so I uninstalled that last night and upgraded to SS3.3 in the hope that this would cure the problem. Sorry for the long post, I'm trying to give as much information as I can for the knowledgeable ones to chew on. All suggestions gratefully accepted.
