  1. It could be if she's had it since the early 70's. The pattern is called Gaytime and it appeared on cookware sets. And I've only got it on my desk, not on my chest!
  2. Thanks everyone. I guess I'll just put this one down to experience. On the plus side, I replaced it with an NH700 which I am very pleased with.
  3. I bought my first MD, an MZ-N1, from E-bay and, on arrival, it basically doesn't work. When I attempt to play a disc, I get a read error. When I attempt to record, I get a record error. When I try to connect to my PC, it is often not recognised as being connected and when eventually it is recognised, I get a 'no media' error. Is this player a dud or does anyone think it's possible to fix it? The seller, of previous good repute, has now unregistered from E-bay and is not co-operating. If it's dead, is there a market for accessories like the charging cradle, remote, optical lead etc. so that I can try to get some money back? All advice gratefully received.
  4. I had been planning my first recording for some time but was let down by a number of microphone sellers. I found myself the day before the concert with no mic. As a last resort, I bought a 19.99 tie-clip mic and headphone volume control from Maplin and vowed to do the best I could. I couldn't get any recording at all through the volume control, and I didn't have time to pursue this, so I ended up with mic going direct into mic-in on my NH700. Here's the result: Cheap Mic Recording - KPM Allstars Sure, it's somewhat distorted and not at all what I had hoped for when planning the recording, but it has quite a nice live feel and, with the recording level down a bit more, I probably could have got a worthwhile recording. I just thought I would post this in case anyone else finds themself in my position.
  5. Thanks for all the information A440. I've asked the seller a few questions based on your comments and he hasn't replied. I guess he's not used to customers quizzing him!
  6. I'm also just starting out. I'm thinking of getting two of these: TIE-CLIP-MIC-LAPEL-VOICE-RECORDER-LAVALIER-MICROPHONE The guy that makes them said he will join them to one plug. My only concern is it seems cheap, but that's not necessarily a reason not to get them.
  7. Thanks. Had a look round Maplin today but they didn't have any. I'm now looking at alternative mics which include clips.
  8. Hi. I'm new here. I'm about to become the owner of a Sony MZ-R30 which I have bought to make live concert recordings. I don't know anything at all about Minidisc or live recording but it looks like there are some knowledgeable and helpful people on here. I've started to look through this particular forum and I'm learning a lot about how to make live recordings. I'm thinking of getting a microphone from greenmachine but I will need some clips to hold the microphone in place. I've seen some suggestions on where to buy these in the US but I'm England and I've no idea where I can get some. Is there anyone from the UK on here who can help me out?
