My first Mini Disk finally arrived and am figuring out everything but got one question. When adjusting recording levels I noticed in the bottom right hand corner it goes from 1 to 30 but the bar on top does not go all the way over to the 0 to -4 level is this normal for this model. It records great and plays back to my PC or headphones great ( Why did I wait so Long ) this is really going to help me on live recordings but just was wondering about the graph on the display??? Anyone recommend a Mike that is decent and not break the budget>>

Thanks

Hi. In terms of recording, the 1 to 30 scale controls the level of signal being recorded onto the disk, which is in turn shown on the other scale marked dB. The important thing is to adjust the 1 to 30 level so that the recorded signal doesn't go above 0dB (too far to the right) - otherwise you'll get distortion recorded.

Try looking at soundprofessionals.com or microphonemadness.com for an idea of the range of mics available.
