monradon
My first Mini Disk finally arrived and am figuring out everything but got one question. When adjusting recording levels I noticed in the bottom right hand corner it goes from 1 to 30 but the bar on top does not go all the way over to the 0 to -4 level is this normal for this model. It records great and plays back to my PC or headphones great ( Why did I wait so Long ) this is really going to help me on live recordings but just was wondering about the graph on the display??? Anyone recommend a Mike that is decent and not break the budget>> Thanks
KJ_Palmer
Hi. In terms of recording, the 1 to 30 scale controls the level of signal being recorded onto the disk, which is in turn shown on the other scale marked dB. The important thing is to adjust the 1 to 30 level so that the recorded signal doesn't go above 0dB (too far to the right) - otherwise you'll get distortion recorded. Try looking at soundprofessionals.com or microphonemadness.com for an idea of the range of mics available.
Christopher
What is your maximum budget? Also, check out reactive sounds. They have a banner at the top of the forum [refresh if you don't see it].
