swampass2
I'm wondering if there is a way to make exact duplicates of MD's without introducting an extra level of compression. Maybe I'm mistaken, but it seems that recording from my deck to my portable would introduce an extra level of compression as the portable records. skyther
Yep it will, but there's a deck that will do a lossless dupe of one disc to another. Not sure about the SCMS restrictions on it, though.

KJ_Palmer
You could, if you had a mind to, make a digital CD-R recording of your master MD, and make all further dupes from that. You'd need the equipment of course. I think that would be 'lossless', or am I mistaken...
Syrius
How about: 1: If you have a HI-MD and made some recordings on it (PCM, HI-SP, Hi-LP), upload them and use Marc's app to convert them to wav. 2:Using Nero's image drive, compile a virtual CD using the wav files, and mount it. Since HDD's are faster, shouldn't take long. 3: With SS 2.1 or higher, rip them to OMA PCM, HiSP or HiLP, and then download to Hi-MD in the flavor of your choice. (Or you can use simple burner too) 4:Repeat downloading the converted files to Hi-MD. Can you say, "Attack of the Clones"?
