Numer0bis
Hello to everyone I recently bought a CMT-M333Nt because it was at discount . Now the Problem is I succesfully managed to copy files from my pc to my minidisc via net-md. Then I wanted to test them on my MZ-R70 portable Minidisc recorder / player, he couldn't play the track. Now I suppose the MZ-R70 is to old and doesn't support Atrac3 ? So I need a newer model which support its. Its should only be a player, because I record the minidisc on the CMT-M333NT and it should be relatively cheap Any suggestions? Thanks for any advice greetz Numer0bis
aeriyn
Yes, the R70 portable is pre-MDLP and will only play SP-mode tracks. I suggest, however, since you have a bookshelf system, to dub the tracks directly from CD to MD in SP mode and play them on your R70 if you want to save money. Also, SP mode sounds better than LP2 and sounds a lot better than any of the NetMD modes through sonicstage. Yeah, you only get 74-80 minutes per disc, but the quality difference is huge. If you are looking for a good player-only unit, I suggest any one of the newer Sharp Auvi players (DS5, DS8, DS30, DS70, DS55, etc). I own a DS8 myself, and I love it to death. The Auvi 1-bit digital amp really makes a difference in the sound quality, and the unit itself is very small, gets great battery life, and is quite sexy to boot. Try searching the classifieds here and at t-board for used Auvi units... also, you can purchase several of them at Audiocubes. Christopher
Welcome to your forums. Aer has made some great recommendations, but I must ask, what is your maximum budget?
Numer0bis
my budget is about 100 bucks, the ds8 sharps looks really intersting, now I finally found the option in sonig stage to recode in sp mode wasn't easy, the software is a littlebit overloaded
Christopher
There's a problem though, the SP in Sonicstage is not true SP. It's rebadged LP2. Unfortunately, the only way to record true SP is in realtime, or with a deck/bookshelf that can do it slightly faster than realtime. $100 bucks, eh? I would suggest you look @ ebay for "MDLP -recorder"
aeriyn
He has a Sony bookshelf system that I imagine can dub from CD->MD at 4x. I'd throw that USB cable out the window if I were you. Might try looking for an older player-only unit; Sony made some good ones. Or maybe you'll get lucky like me and stumble on cheapy awesomeness. *cuddles her DS8*

Syrius
I want a deck like that. Which brand and model? And where can I get one?
aeriyn
Ok , I'll just burn my songs from pc to a cd - rw and dub it to mindisc with my bookshelf system .I don't think that unit will be able to read CD-RWs... Regular CD-Rs would be fine though.
skyther
Erm, why would you want to go through such hassle?
Syrius
Because burning a CD RW (We don't know if it can read them, I'm sure it can if it's recent enough) and copying that CD to MD at 4X probably will take less than real time recording straight from the computer.
