volcs0
I am not a MD owner (yet). I'm trying to convert optical audio (TOSLink) to analog (RCA). Will this do the trick? Do I have to be recording in order to monitor the sound? Thanks. Sam P.S. Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this - I did the best I could. Syrius
Yes, it will. You will need to have the unit in record-pause, with a disc inside of it. (Which I don't recommend, since it can cause wear on the motor) Sony MD decks have a feature that converts the signal to analog, so you can monitor, without having a disc inside. Darn. I miss my JE 330 deck.

Syrius
I thniks so. I had a 330 deck, and it could act as a DAC even without a disc. Simply hit "rec" and that's it. Sony implemented this as a feature to monitor your digital stream without recording. Very smart, I say.
