Truth_Seeker1
I am a happy owner of a MZ-NH1 but am looking for a remote with a record button. I came across the Pass MD-remote on minidisc.org: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Pass_MD-Remote.html but there is no way for me to know if this remote is compatible with my unit. Secondly, the link on this page to the company's website is a broken link. Can anyone redirect me? Or show me another product? Hopefully one nearly as small as the standard remote Sony includes? TIA
aeriyn
None of the Hi-MD units, and very few Sony MD units in general, have the record function on the remote. A good deal of Sharp MD units do, however. The MD-DR77 is an example of this functionalty.
doclloyd
My old R700 unit (I think) had a "recording remote", which had things like a record button, along with track mark, etc. Of course, it didn't have a display on it. I'm not sure where that remote even is right now or if it would even work on newer units.
Christopher
That remote, the RM-MZ4R, didn't feature such functionality.
Latexxx
This is a little bit old thread but I just discovered that nh900's remote's 'p mode' works as 't mark' when recording.
Truth_Seeker1
Thanks - that is very helpful. I hope I can find the nh900's remote for sale online - can someone inform me of the remote's ID name/number? And hopefully it'll be compatible with my MZ-NH1. However, why don't you see if your RM-MC40ELK will work in the same way? Start recording something and see if "P MODE" functions in the same way as "T MARK." Who knows? It might work.
sknight
That remote, the RM-MZ4R, didn't feature such functionality.I'm looking at one of those remotes from my 700 and it doesn't have a record button. Additionally, Sony has changed the connectors so that the old remotes are no longer fittable to the new models. The older models have a flat plug. The new ones are multi-plane. While we're on the topic, I must speak about how piss-poor the layout of the NHF800's tuner remote is. Gosh, I can't even find the buttons and it's layed out completely counterintuitively. The old tuner remote was fine, albeit simple. Additionally, the reception is s*it. I took off the noise suppressor on the cable and it helped *barely*. It also appears that the dc-dc converter block must be kept outside a pocket to improve reception. Like I said, the reception is almost non-existant, while the old tuner remote from way back worked nearly flawlessly. The new remote is only good for the advanced functions, at this point. Truth_Seeker1
Well I would hardly use the radio tuner function. My main desire is for recording - and really, ideally, I'd like a record button on the remote that *doesn't require me to hit record on the main unit first.* A record button that would turn the MD on and make it start recording.
