Using SonicStage with more than one device?

Hello all- This is my first post and it is nice to see a forum dedicated to these topics.

I have a NW-E99 flash player and am using SS 3.1 with ATRAC+ at 64 KBPS, I have found SS to be excellent and have had no problems at all transferring my music.

I am going to purchase a NW-HD1 player in the next week or so and I am wondering if I will be able to use my current SS library with this new device and just start transferring my current library to the NW-HD1.

I was just hoping that my current version of SS will recognize the new device and I won't have to install a new version of SS and have to start putting all my CD's back on my laptop again.

Thanks very much for any information, LL-

my advice is to update to 3.2 anyway, if only so the new music you import won't have the drm restrictions anymore, so you'll be able to put any music imported into 3.2 onto a back up.

there shouldn't be any problems running two devices off sonicstage, afaik they can even be plugged in at the same time.

Welcome to ALC!

The answer to your main query: Yes! SonicStage 3.2 supports multiple ATRAC devices simultaneously and it handles all the devices at once efficiently. (*I had four device connected simultaneously: HiMD, NetMD, PSP and VAIO Pocket with no problems) The options for your respective device within SonicStage changes when you switch from one ATRAC device to the other.

Hello atrain and Ishiyoshi- Thanks very much for your replies. This is good news as I can just start adding more CD's to my library and have plenty of stuff ready for when I bring home the new device.

I'm just wondering why you think I should upgrade to SS 3.2 ? What are DRM restrictions ?

It's just that I have been happy with SS 3.1 so I am thinking "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" !!

Will there be any benefits to SS 3.2 ?

Thanks very much for you help !!!!

LL- :)

drm = digital rights managment

3.2 offers you the option of any new files imported to not have this, meaning you can store the omg files like you would mp3s - move them to another computer, back them up manualy rather than via sonicstage, just have more control over your music.
