st165
i'm not quite sure which forum to post this in since the software is used by both netmd and himd users... but i have a problem when converting some mp3 files it seems to hang and crash the system. other mp3 files work fine and the only workaround to converting the "bad" mp3 files i could use is to convert the file to wav. then converting from wav to ogm. anyone else encountered this b4? the mp3s would play fine on any media player software. dex Otaku
SonicStage does have issues with its mp3 decoder. The most frequently heard complaints are that some mp3s come through as silence, and that many VBR mp3s won't convert at all. It's possible that you're experiencing a variation of this. Sony have a standalone mp3 converter .. search for 'mp3 converter' on here .. perhaps this might work better for you. Otherwise, and this may seem a weak argument, I'd say that more than anything the problem is the fault of shoddy encoding [using a shoddy codec or settings well outside standards]. st165
thx for the antivirus advice... i did the housecall scan and it reported no viruses, i also have spyware s&d, panda antivirus, and trojan hunter installed and all the prog verified that my comp is "clean" plus this is a fairly fresh install of windows i did 4 days ago and there isn't much garbage and stuff installed yet either :
Christopher
Hrm. This is an interesting issue..how many programs are running in the background when you try this? What are your system specs?
Syrius
Musicmatch Jukebox can convert any MP3 to wav. I'm sure SonicCrud wont' choke on those. And MM is free.
st165
hrm... this is interesting cuz now sonic stage seems like it's choking on any form of mp3 conversion.... System specs: Athlon 2500+ Soltek sl75frnl 1024 333ddram 120gig hd ati radeon 9700 pro audigy 2 platinum this is running under a fresh install of windows w/ sp2 and the latest drivers the only other programs i have installed on the comp were panda antivirus which runs in the background. hard drive is defragged, i run ccleaner to get rid of junk files, scanned system w/ panda, trojan hunter, and spybot sd and nothing came up... notes on my install i installed ss2.2 on a separate partition from my windows partition (e:) and my settings for sonic stage has all the output folders pointed to my junk partition (f:) to reduce fragmenting up my windows and apps partition i'll probably try uninstalling ss2.2 and reinstalling it tomorrow although i don't think that would fix the prob... syrius: thanks for the info on music match but i dont' really have a prob w/ converting to wav.. i usually use m32usb or whatever that's called (i used to own an mzn1 b4 the wire broke) and create images then directly extract the atrac 3 from the cd album so i can use the cddb and not have to rename the files (i'm lazy ) but if anyone has had similar problems and fixed it... let me know... i don't know if i should contact sony or anything. I'm hopin they release that mp3 support that was rumored to happen sooner or later
st165
and i tried clearing the output folders of any files that were created from past extractions... didn't help at all either... i'm not sure what's up w/ this haha comp runs smooth when i first start converting... then it hits 10% and pretty much freezes. it doesn't seem to be doing it for only vbr mp3s anymore either... i downloaded a few new albums which were cbr and it would choke as well during conversion
st165
and the above standalone mp3 converter is pretty much using sonic stage since it won't run w/o a ss2.2 install if only someone can make a 3rd party converter haha
