squeeb
First of all let me just say Hello to all the MD fans. I want to record from PC onto MD but not using a player. I was wandering if anyone knew of an internal device that could be mounted in a 5 1/4 drive bay. i.e. I could just fire the disc into my PC the same as floppy or zip without the need for USB cables and daughter board. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
aeriyn
There was once such a device (MDM-1) but it is old, impossible to find and expensive. If you wish to use MD as a storage media, I suggest you look elsewhere. MD is a magneto-optical system and thus is very, very slow. It would take upwards of 45 minutes to copy 1gb of information to a Hi-MD player.
watcher666
Hmmmm, it's not quite that bad! I've just copied a 944Mb Video file to my Hi-MD (600) and it took a little under 20min's! Not lightning, but ok for backing up photo's etc! It seems alot faster if the Hi-MD is formatted using windows rather than SS, i'll have to do a test!
