classicalnut
Just to let you guys know of my latest recording adventure. My son is in a children's choir and I recorded their latest concert this past Sunday. I decided to pull out my 2 Earthworks SRO microphones, ran them through my new ART DPS II and then went optical out to optical in on my HI-MD 800. All I can say is WOW I got the best recording I have ever made. Uploaded and then burned to cd and people who have listened have been very impressed. Thanks to everyone for all the tips and tricks and hope everyone keeps recording. Have a great Holiday Season, peace, Van
Christopher
Glad to hear. So, are you going to upload this to a website associated with the choir? Have you distributed the recording amongst the choir members? What a nice Christmas present that would be, amongst other things.
obsideo
I'd love to hear that recording - gratz to you! Can I ask what those SROs ran you? I'm looking into aditional mic'ing options and those look very nice; just the spl handling itself makes me grin. Cheers!
classicalnut
I have given copies to the five different directors and the head director is going to use my copy to send off and have copies made for a fund raiser. The SROs I bought about four years ago and they ran me about $300 each. I almost sould them a while back but was glad I didn't. One of the pieces that the choir did had a lot of different peecussion in it (I was playing on that one) and couldn't watch my levels but the mikes handled the extra bass quite well. Shermy
I'm a newbie and trying to understand how this all works. So the Max SPL of the mics (I believe the SROs are 150db) is what determines if the sound is going to be distorted or not? Or, is it the loudness of the sound coming into the recorder what causes it to distort? Or...is it a combination of the two. I'm getting mics that are rated at peaking at 130db with a battery box attached (120db sans battery box). Thanks!!
