campekenobi
Now that I have entered the MD world w/ my hi-MD player, I'm looking at other units (shelf systems, car stereos), yet if I'm not mistaken, they would not play ANY of my MDs (even the 80min ones) because I output my Sonic Stage stuff in "hi-MD" format. If what I just said is true, is there ANY other unit that could play hi-MD formatted (or netMD - in case I got the terms wrong) (it doesn't even have to play the 1GIG discs) other than the 'walmkan' portables??? Thanks
JavaGeek
only Hi-MD players will play the 1GB minidisc and the regular minidisc formatted in HiMD mode. And AFAIK, the only other unit that plays HiMD music is the new network disk. But as someone mentioned somewhere else, Sony will probably announce new units on january 2005. Fat Tires
Simply put, there are no Hi-MD compatible decks, mini-systems, or car audio gear out yet. At least one minisystem I've seen does play ATRAC3Plus CDs. You can make an ATRAC CD from Sonicstage from your existing files.
campekenobi
ok, that's what i figured... thanks. (looking forward to January... is there a specific date? will we hear about it in this forum??)
Christopher
January isn't a definite. I would say more or less the first quarter of 2005. That seems very logical to me.

Be prepared to shell out $700 USD for one though.

Weaves
Actually, January is a good time. Sony announced Hi-MD at the CES show last year. Granted, the units weren't available until later. However, I would speculate that they would announce any major new units and/or unit changes at that time. The CES show is within the first two weeks of 2005. Weaves
