elementcz
I've problem using SS on my notebook (IBM ThinkPad T41). First I had version which was included with my HiMD (NH1) it was SS 2.1. This version has been working only when HiMD wasnt connected to computer. After connecting MD to computer program crashed. I've decided to try newest version 2.2, but this is even worst because program crashes immediately after it starts. On my other computers SS works relatively fine (as long as you dont expect too much  ) so I think this could be some notebook related issue (some usb drivers or sw for controlling nb behaviour) . Is there someone who has T41 or similar machine (T4x) and can confirm that SS works on this. I'm using Windows XP w SP1 and last weekend I've tried to reinstall whole system from scratch. Christopher
Try reading the NetMD faq for reinstall directions if you don't have any luck. Be sure to upgrade to Service Pack 2, btw.
elementcz
I've reinstalled whole OS so I dont think that this is some installation problem (clean install of WXP + clean install of SS). And unfortunately I can't use SP2 on my TP, because I'm using it in work where we are not allowed to install it (problems with web applications etc.). I've seen something about SS 2.3 recently so I give a try.... At least SS works on my 2 of 4 home computers ( it could be worser  ) ... Christopher
Do you get any error messages before it crashes?
meatcurtain
ditch the sonic stage software. IT SUCKS! Then download Real One Player (it's free). Open it and go to tools/add new device then click on add new device again. it willshow you a list of plug ins. check the first sony plug in and click install or go or whatever. it will load right up. when your all done i would go into your msconfig and uncheck it from startup. this program is a resorce hog if you leave it running when your not using it. Christopher
Upgrade to 2.3. The link is within the Hi-MD forum and is also linked at the front page at the moment.
elementcz
I've just found that if I insert recorded non-HiMD disc, program is able to work. At least something . It looks like on some computers could be problem to access device from SonicStage while MD is available also as removable disc (? USB drivers ?). Christopher
Is your unit in NetMD or Hi-MD mode?
elementcz
I think that by default it is in HiMD mode. I havent changed this option.
elementcz
So 2.3 behaves same like 2.2 - crashes before the program loads... I will stick on my NB with 2.1 where I am able to use it in NetMD mode at least.
john22
Some help please!!! Just bought by MD today and as much as I have any sonic software from Sony, I decided to get one anyway. Came with ver 2.0 Now I know there are newer versions out there but sometimes they can be worse than old ones. It installed perfectly and accepted all files from my computer. Problems lies when I go to transfer, even 1 or 2 songs, system just restarts for no reason. Thought maybe it was mine, so I tried on my laptop and other comp as well and did the same thing. Now I did read on post, that using Real One Player (Meatcurtain) will work. Anyone have suggestions, or know that new version works??? About to read the whole manual again front to back, but I knew I would get the truth from you all here. Thanks ahead of time!!!John

john22
Welcome, john. What operating system are you using?←Hey Kuriso...I'm running XP Home...don't know if I put my model number but it is a MZ-NF520D Thanks for any help you can give me. I have read where people are getting error messages. Only message I've gotten is when I try and transfer songs onto my MD and if it's more than 1 or 2 at a time then it says cannot fit, knowing good and well that there is ample room. But most of the time, comp just automatically restarts without saying anything. Thanks.....
Christopher
Download Service Pack 2 for XP if you haven't already, then uninstall via the directions in the NetMD faq and download Sonicstage 2.3 from connect.com.
john22
Download Service Pack 2 for XP if you haven't already, then uninstall via the directions in the NetMD faq and download Sonicstage 2.3 from connect.com.←Hey Kurisu...thanks. Everything works now just like you said. Now as long as it continues to keep working. One other question....is it normal for me to get about 75-80 songs on one MD??? I am transferring in Standard mode using LP4 Stereo. I thought I'd be able to get alot more on 1 disk. Checked the tips/tricks section and didn't see anything. Again, thanks for your help. If it wasn't for forum members and moderators.....things would never work!!!
Christopher
Sorry I didn't reply to your private message about the NetMD faq. I assume you found it as things now work. 75-80 songs on one minidisc in LP4 seems normal, but it all depends on the length of the song as 320 minutes is the maximum amount of time available in that mode on an 80 minute disc. I have some problems with the software everynow and then, but I exit out and try again and it usually works. But hey...what would Sonic Stage be without some problems Again...thanks a million
jthadiustoad
I have the same problem with SS 2.3 that the first poster has. It may have something to do with our hardware. I am using a Thinkpad X31. I have installed succesfully on a Toshiba Satellite. Only other difference is XP Pro on the X31 and XP Home on the Toshiba. Any other suggestions besides Realplayer? MD unit is a MZ-NE410, but I don't think that has anything to do with it, as I can't even load the SS software without getting the "Omgjbox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." error.
