Yankeeman
Hey all, I'm looking for a device to use for live recordings. In the past, I've used the Nomad Jukebox 3, which is great except for its bulkiness. The HI-MD looked promising, but I've been reading that even live recordings recorded through the mic input are tagged with DRM. Does this mean that even if I recorded my self playing piano or talking that I wouldn't be able to edit the file once it was transferred to PC? If this is the case I'll definitely stay away from MD. Thanks, JL
streaml1ne
You get ONE high speed SonicStage transfer. Then you can use marcnet's himdrender to decode it to wav. Subsequent transfers through Sonic Stage delete the track off the MD. There's always the digital real-time upload using Total Recorder though. But it's a cop-out excuse if you ask me. Christopher
This is a good summation of uploading options for Hi-MD: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?p=32073 To summarize, yes, you can upload faster than realtime and convert it to *.wav, allowing you to do whatever you wish with the recording. There is a very small chance that the track could be trashed during upload. Definitely check out what I've linked, however.
