classicalnut
I have the opportunity to get a really good MAC computer at a very cheap price. It would be used only for recording purposes. I have heard that Hi-MD and MD in general don't get along. Will this be waste of time and money? I'm sure this issue has come up before but couldn't find anything in a search. Thanks in advance, Van
dex Otaku
Used as an analogue device, HiMD is totally Mac-compatible.If what you seek is the ability to digitally transfer from HiMD to your Mac, though - think again. Only one piece of software [sonicStage] does it, and it only does it on the PC.One user reported that trying to use SS under VirtualPC was like pulling teeth, as well. So: for digital transfers - PC only. For analogue transfers - works the same as the MDs that people have been using with Macs for years do. Kaotic
Dex is semi correct. For TRUE and FAST digital transfers, I am sorry to said.. PC ONLY!for uploading tracks to the Mac DIGITALLY, there is couple ways to workaround; however, the it would still be recording in REALTIME, there is no way to get around that. dex Otaku
How about, "There is no way "straight from the box" to use HiMD's USB audio capabilities with a Mac."
classicalnut
Hey Kaotic how is it done digitaly even in real time? Dex thanks for you answers too. I have a feeling that besides going optical in into the Mac there is no digital transfer and Hi-MD as to this time doesn't offer optical digital outs. Thanks. Kaotic
Here is one option,M-Audio TransitI'm pretty sure, Edirol have a similar device such as this. so that's 2 options for you. This device has line-in/Optical input, connection from this device to mac is via USB cable, thus capable of upload Digitally.only downside from all this, it must be done in realtime. classicalnut
None of the Hi-MD units have optical out so this would not work for me. Thanks anywat.
