DigitalHack
Hi, new to the forum. Discovered it this morning in my search for upgrading my software.I have SS 2.3 and I was wondering if it is worth my time to upgrade to 3.2. I have heard that if you do the upgrade then it means you will have to initialize the player all over again, thus, erasing the hard drive. Is there any way that I can back up the Pocket to my computers hard drive and just move the files back over later? I have 31 gigs of MP3's that I really have no desire to re-rip from cd.I talked to a Sony rep at the 1-800-4SONYPC and he said that it can be done through Windows Media Player 10 (which I looked around and could only see the sync option) or I could just copy the folders from F: to the hard drive and put them back on after installing 3.2 and initializing my Pocket.Any help woyld be appreciated. Thanks
sonyslave
I take it you do not have the mp3s on your computer now?
DigitalHack
That would be correct. I have reformatted my hard drive and so I am starting with a fresh install of everything.
sonyslave
I can only suggest trying the method Sony suggests by copying a track over to your computer and then trying to import it in to your current version of SonicStage. If this works then go ahead and copy everything across.Another possibility would be to use the Vaio music transfer program to add more music to your Pocket Vaio as I don't think you need to initialise it as you are not directly using SonicStage.Sorry I can't be of more help, I don't use mp3s, hopefully someone else on the forum can be of more help.David
Minger
^sonyslave's suggestion sounds like your only option.I just wish they weren't so anal about pirating that they would at least use our players as a backup medium for music in the case something does go wrong...
