ffs
Hi to EveryoneI have read the pinned Recommended 'phones for Minidisc userswhich I found very useful. I'm thinking of buying the Sony MDR-E888 earphones and would like to know what people think of them (if they have any).Frequency Response is 8-27,000HzSensitivity (dB/mW) is 108Output is 50mWAre these good values for my player.I have a Sony NH900 HI-MD Recorder & need some decent earphones.Cheers Edited January 19, 2005 by ffs
aeriyn
The E888s are great little earbuds. They're rather fragile though so you will have to take care of them. The driver construction is of a type of paper (Sony gets all fancy and calls it bio-cellulose, which basically means paper) and they tend to wear out after about a year or two of heavy use. They are quite efficient; they only impede 32ohms and have a 108dB/mW sensitivity. Great little open buds. I used to have a pair but I'm rather rough on my portable phones, so I now pack Shure E3cs for isolating buds and Koss KSC-75s for open phones on the go. Both are pretty well indestructable.Other good recommendations at the same general price point of the E888s are the Sennheiser PX100, D22 eggos, Shure E2cs (good for you because you have a parametric EQ and can fix the problems these phones have un-EQed) and if you're lucky the Etymotic ER-6 (although they're also pretty fragile).
