giacecco
Suddenly the CDDB CD recognition stopped working. SonicStage 2.2 says I am not registered to GraceNote. I then go in Tools|Options|Get CD Info|CDDB, click on "Register..." and nothing happens. Any ideas?Giacecco

Any ideas?Giacecco←Sometimes SS can't connect to the CDDB database, because of the build-in Windows XP firewall. Try the following:1) Turn off the Windows firewall using "Control Panel" > "Security center" > "Windows firewall".2) Restart Sonicstage and register again to the CDDB.After that it will probably work again. Don't forget to restart the Windows firewall!
dex Otaku
Or for that matter, use a different firewall.I have seen others have nothing but problems with the SP2 XP firewall. Despite the huge improvements in it, it's still a PITA. I've never had it turned on, myself.

Moreover, the strange thing is that nothing happens when I click on Register...←Are you permanently connected to the internet? If not, maybe that's the reason why nothing happens when you click Register. Sonicstage needs to connect to the CDDB for that. If you are connected, than that cannot explain your issue. However I strongly recommend that you install a firewall in that case!
Qwakrz
I had this happen after I installed the Creative suite for my new soundcard. I ended up uninstalling the creative media center & it all started working again. What have you added recently?
dex Otaku
You don't have a firewall at all? Do you have a router between your puter and the net?It may all seem like paranoia to some, but I have logged attempted incoming connections for about 3 years now, with an always-on DSL connection, and in all that time my average has been between 300-700 penetration attempts EVERY DAY.
