poe
As I understand it Type R is a recording technology so heres my question, Do you get the advantage of Type R recording when played back on a older generation Atrac? Do you get this on say a Sharp unit? If you do wouldn't the best would be to record in Sony Type R and play back on Sharp Auvi system?POE
aeriyn
Yes.Type-R is basically nothing more than Sony ATRAC 4.5 with a second pass-through filter. The benefits of Type-R are only on the encoding side; of course the recording will sound better than plain vanilla v4.5, and the recording will be decodable even by older equipment.Current Sharp ATRAC (I believe it's version 7) is just as good as ATRAC Type-R, however. poe
Thanks, Aeriyn now I know that I can invest in some of the older units out there for playback such as the 700,800 models. POE
