Hi, I'm doing a piece of Business and Economics coursework entitled 'how have Sony lost their competitive advantage in the portable audio market?'

Part of this involves using 'specialist media', which forums are allegedly a part of. Can anyone offer some views on the question? Much appreciated.

dont know really, maybe: sony are trying to cut corners with their new products and are not as reliable/strong etc as their origional products? or the fact that china are mass producing ultra cheap mp3 players and people are buying these in favour of sony's more expensive HDD players??

hope this helps- ill be doing my AS coursework in a few years time cool.gif

specialist media is never a question except for memory stick

the old MD stepping out of the market is mainly because the mp3 player is really cheap, and

mp3 player doesn't impose copyright protection in any sense

u can just download from the internet, and transfer these mp3 to ur player at fast speed(saying a few seconds with a 4 min song)

and, technology leak will be another main cause

Sony used to hold the technic of high tech electronics product manufacturing

u just can't imagine factories in china can produce a portable cd player like Sony do(10 years ago)

but now the situation is different

there people get the trick

and it's very hard to get people adapt to SACD in case they already have something like CD
