Just feeling a little bit enthusiastic about to have found that section at Minidisc forums after starting posting first in the Hi-MD section.

Today i started reading through all the posts here and got inspired enough to search the internet for some information.

I'm still suprised that SONY's DRM allows the upload of own recordings made through the digital input of my Hi-MD unit. After i read about the superior quality of the hardware ATRAC encoder over the software one of SonicStage i brought my stand-alone Cd-recorder back to life. It has Tos-link connections so that i could convince myself of that quality advantage using the built-in encoder of my 900. When i came to record some music in PCM format i doubted that SonicStage will accept me upload it to the computer. But it allowded it...i thought it wouldn't fit into SONY's politic of making digital copies of cd's with the posibility of fast upload ?

So that great feature let me dream of a portable high-quality solution for taping

live music. Now i want to add an external battery powered mic-pre with A/D converting to overcome the analog stages of my MD unit.

After i saw only high-prized units like GRACE LUNATEC V3

or

APOGEE's Mini Me through mid-prized like

CORE SOUND's MIC2496 or

DENECKE AD-20

, i finally got stuck at that nice designed box.Although it's lacking a mic-pre it's quite interesting because of the low prize of 75 euros.

Did anyone tried that box in conjunction with a DIY battery powered mic-pre . I would appreciate much any links of schematics.
