hayduke
most of the bands i catch play right up to 90 min sets or longer now and again. i'm not stealthing, the mic is up on a stand, and i can play with the recorder (NH900) all i want. my question is this: i know i have to either hit "stop" or let the disc fill up before i can swap another disc in, not just hit "pause" and stick another disc in, so if i let the disc fill completely, wait for it to save, then pop another disc in and hit "record" will my settings be the same (i record in manual) or will i have to re-set everything like i would had i hit "stop"?thanks! LowMD
You'll have to reset to Manual when you insert a new disc. So you might as well hit Stop between songs, or during a drum solo. Edited March 11, 2005 by LowMD

You would need an external preamp whose signal can be split to more than one recorder, or to daisy-chain the recorders, i.e. mic to recorder #1, 'phone output of recorder #1 to line input of recorder #2. Side-effects of the daisy-chaining process:* Levels from the 'phones output are not actually as high as line-level [the Nh1 and NH900 in line-out mode are exceptions to this]* The 'phones output [on other than the NH1 and NH900] is not flat, frequency-response wise, which will result in boosted bass.Too see proof of this with an NH700, see this thread. If you want identical levels on both recorders, splitting the output of an external preamp is basically the only way to go. mgdimo
or during a drum solo.←Ouch!! Why do the drummers always have to get the shaft?!? I take pride in my solos. FURTHERMORE, they take place few and far between--and my band even has two drummers!! AND we play long sets. I guess we're not friendly to 80 minute discs and convenient disc changes. Of course, all my comments are light-hearted. Seriously, my band IZZ has a gig in Lowell, Massachussetts where it's just us for 2 long sets. We may play for 3 - 3.5 hours. I'm planning on going hi-sp to a blank 1gb disc. I should have no worries about disc space, right? Anyone?Hayduke, I may have missed this somewhere else, but what's your recording rig? What equipment do you use other than your 700?
A440
You'll have plenty of space on the 1GB disc at Hi-SP. Perhaps it should have been bass solos.
hayduke
yeah i want the drum solos on tape! right now i'm running MS957 > NH900 with OK results mic in, will try line in this weekend. i would like to stick with the MD for its ease of use, and am looking into better frontend gear and going optical into the 900....here's a show i recorded, for some reason the archive hasn't swapped it over to other formats yet...http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=22752
Christopher
Perhaps it should have been bass solos. ←Hey, as a bassist I resent this! Seriously. p.s. hayduke, very nice. Sounds like gold through these shitty Dell speakers at work.
