sad.gif Hi!

This error occurs everytime I try to export an MP3-File with SonicStage 3.0 To my new NH1. Did I do someting wrong? Is there no support for VBR? Or is something wrong with the SP2? The Problem occurs mainly on my notebook. With my PC it works much better (not with every file).

Thank you for help!

Michael

See if you have the FFDShow codec pack installed on that computer. It's famously incompatible with SonicStage. If you do, uninstall it in Add/Remove Programs.

Hi!

I haven't installed this codec pack. I have deinstalled now nearly every codec but no effect. Now there is another additional problem: SonicStage does not recognize the HiMD anymore (it recognizes the player). Every time I plug the player in there is an error message in SonicStage: "Cannot use this disk as an audio disk because it was initialized by program other than SonicStage".

I'd like to throw the whole system on the floor, jump on it and damn Sony! mad.gif

Sounds painfully familiar.

Sony suggested to Run: Msconfig and uncheck everything from Startup (write down if you had any unchecked before, they'll change their order) and see if something else was interfering with SS. It didn't work for me, but might for you.

Someone in another thread also suggested uninstalling and reinstalling SP2.

If those don't do it, my further developments are near the bottom of the thread below, but there was a happy ending.

Back up your library to CDs or DVD before you start, going through Programs/Sonicstage to the SonicStage Backup Tool.

What worked was to uninstall SS 3.0. and install 1.6 (for me) and then SS 3.0 on top of it. If you haven't had a previous version of SonicStage on your computer, then it's a tossup as to whether you should do this.

So consider this optional: If you want to, use 2.0 if you still have the disc (or get it on the thread below). Uninstall that with Add/Remove and then manually delete the directories and registry keys mentioned in the FAQ about uninstalling 1.x and 2.x.

Then install SS 3.0. If it's still screwed up, uninstall, remove the same directories and keys as above, and reinstall. Repeatedly. Try not to commit any acts of violence during the rebootings.

As a fellow sufferer, I wish you luck and I'm crossing my fingers for you.

Did you uninstall ffdshow as a whole? Just uninstalling the included codecs might not help.

There's no ffdshow on my notebook. I have uninstalled a lot of programs, Nero, DivX-Player... There are some music programs such as Cubase SX, but I don't wanna uninstall all my software to make SonicStage work.

I'm sorry, I didn't read your post correctly.

hi everyone... i'm new to this forum

i joined this site after having SS v3 problems myself

i finally got it to work (thanks to kirisu's uninstall/install info)

but there must be some music rights problem.... i think the SSv3 doesn't carry the music rights you had under previous versions of the software. I can convert and transfer my original MP3s into the HiMD player, but all the OMG/SS converted files I had don't work in the new version (which sucks because I bought like 15 songs from Connect and they dont work now).

Hopefully this helps out... if anyone else has anymore problems, or can solve this one, let us know.
