Sonicstage Doesn't Detect Md After Installation

ok ok people i'm really getting pissed off.. in the year 2003 i've bought a Net MD MZ-N510 including software etc. Well, i've formatted my c:/ drive and installed Win XP Pro again. A while after that i re-installed sonicstage. It was supposed to work correctly, as it was running correctly the first time also. But now i'm encountering a VERY irritating problem: after (re&re&re)installing sonicstage 1.5 and the driver, and connecting the USB-Cable again, Sonicstage says: Device Not Connected. I've already tried a lot of ways (according to information on forums) to fix this problem but Sonicstage still isn't able to detect the MD.

I'm sure there is nothing wrong with my USB-cable, because you can here the 'usb-device-connected' sound from Windows. There must be something wrong with the software..

I really don't know what to do, please help me!

I have met the same problem this night, I resolved it after searched the forum, I found the pinned topics is not for our situation. Also, reinstalltion any software is totally waste of your time, only reason for this situation is you have other usb device coneected and the ss/openmg messed it up.

MY Way is listed below:

1. delete your netmd in device manager

2. Unplug any usb devices especially the media card reader for the stupid ss/openmg will only check the first usb device.

3. restart the system and start ss/openmg to the transfer/checkinout page

4. only plug in the netmd(first usb port is prefferred)

5. windows system will found new hardware and install the driver for netmd, after installation, your ss/openmg will find the netmd.

Thanks for the heads up, zqcolor. The reason why I stated what I did is because Sonicstage 1.5 sucks. Sonicstage 3 is a night and day difference and will most likely solve his woes upon installation.

I'm a new user but have gotten to grips with a lot of stuff pretty quickly. But the SonicStage 2.1 and 3.1 software are driving me nuts!

I've got a Sony NH900 and wanted to transfer my mic test recordings onto the pc. Installed SS2.1 and the Hi-MD was in the transfer list. Cool. I clicked and listened to my recordings. Nice! I'm starting to love it. Then I click to copy it to the PC - error. It says that the disk is write protected. I checked the Hi-MD and made sure the tab was in the correct position. Tried it again and it still said the same thing.

I thought that maybe it was the version of SonicStage and installed the full 3.1 installer. Now, when I go into the program, my minidisc is not listed!

I've tried taking out the usb and then putting it back in 10 secs later. Nothing. I've removed the drive from device manager and then plugged back in to see it reinstall. Back in SS and still nothing. I think the last one I did was unplugging it while in SS and then plugging back in about 10secs later. But yeah, still nothing.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm also trying to copy some music to the Hi-MD as well, but have only just tried that in the SS 3.1 software. No joy, of course.

Looks like there's something else annoying to add to the list.

I said that the disc was protected, yes? Well, after moving the tab back and forth, it won't unprotect the disc!!! I can't do anything with it at all... I've gone through the menus on the remote stick and the main unit, but can't find anything.

What happened? It was accessing fine before I connected to the computer.

Folks... I got it working! The problem? Well, I installed SP2 for Windows XP. I'm glad nothing major has happened to my machine as a result of this. But at least the Hi-MD shows up in SonicStage. I also used the internet setup so that it downloaded the components from the web to install. Before reinstalling SS, I followed the removal advice in the stickied thread about deleting registry entries and folders left behind by previous installations.

The only thing I'm not any further on, though, is the write/protected thing. I still get told that I can't get anything to or from the Hi-MD as it's write/protected. Just to make sure, I got a bog standard MD and formatted for Hi-MD and managed to convert an MP3 with no problems.

I read somewhere on here that SS may have added this write/protected 'bit' onto the disc. How the heck can it be removed?? I also read that in service mode, it should be able to bypass this 'bit' and wipe the disc. Since there's nothing major on the disc, I'm not afraid of doing just that! Any help would be most appreciated.

I've installed the latest SonicStage software in a WindowsXP environment. My hi-md recorder mounts as a drive, but neither SonicStage nor SimpleBurner see the recorder.

Any suggestions appreciated.
